From Radio Ink:
Disney Gets Radio Bids
TheStreet.com reports that the Walt Disney Company is moving deliberately toward a sale of its radio assets under new chief Bob Iger.
Disney’s 77 station radio division, which includes ESPN sports and ABC News assets across the US, is said to be worth upwards of $3 billion. Goldman Sachs and Bear Stearns are working on a possible sale.
The Financial Times reported yesterday that Disney fielded bids from three companies last week. Emmis Communications joined Citadel Broadcasting and Entercom in submitting bids. The FT report indicates that those bids were "underwhelming."
A Disney rep wouldn’t comment, but did point out that Disney’s radio group is a "wonderful asset."
