AC format rules of programming

JimmyJames said:
Roger_That, actually XM's "Decades" channels were both critical successes AND heavily listened to channels - then Sirius cost themselves a lot of goodwill by making them more FM style. So deeper oldies channels were working on satellite radio.

"Critical successes" tend not to make money.

The decades channels increased their usage per the satellite ratings when they tightened up from the "anything that was recored in the decade" policy.

And they disappointed customers that directly paid for those channels. It's not quite the same as commercial radio losing a few disenfranchised listeners as losing paying customers.

They did take a hit from their changes, and their numbers were good (considering potential audience) under the deeper playlists. It's indisputable.

Read this whole thread. Gotta agree with David on this one. However instead of arguing, each of you list two or three of what you think are the best AC's in the country. And then lets all listen to them, tight playlist or not, and come back and post our thoughts here after a few days to a week.

I'll start with WBEB in Philly, and WLTW in New York. I do know that WBEB is not streaming at this time.

Best way to find out what the best AC songs are, is for you to get the list that the leading AC stations are playing. It requires a subscription service but it's good for you to get set up like this.

The top AC stations in the country have a very tight playlist, no more than 200 to 300 hundred.
