adam 12's replacement:

-do u think mr clay, wyrk mornings, would do it?

Sound of screeching brakes, broken glass and mangled metal. Passers by stop and turn with stunned looks.

Hold for three seconds while dust clears. Disolve to man on opposite side of street corner who points and laughs.

It was only a holographic illusion. Camera pans to stunned on-lookers who walk away as if they've been duped.

Alfred Hitchcock appears and begins his opening monologue... "Good eeeeven-ing..."
---

OK. This academic little discussion just went from sublime to ridiculous.

Clay Moden, for those who my not know and I suspect most do, is the co-host-anchor of one of Buffalo's top 3 (often #1, depending on the season) morning drive radio shows. He makes morning drive money. He lives, eats and breathes country music. "He ain't goin' to be playing no stinkin' Soundgarten from 7 to midnight on the Edge!"
---

And now, Rod Serling appears, "...Imagine if you will, an aging but popular semi-retired morning man who becomes 22 again and begins his career as a night time d-j..."

Smokey haze, Danny Neaverth, Harv Moor, Jim Santella and Stan Roberst appear...

Yes, this thread has officially entered The Twilight Zone.

I gotta agree with Element Nine here! Radio Bored Op, my man, what were you smoking to even suggest Clay Moden would leave the morning show on Buffalo's top ranked radio station to become the evening host of a rock station that's rated ninth or tenth in the market? Yeah, that will happen right after Keith Radford leaves Channel 7 to host a public access show on cable!

wow you guys are HARSH on Val!

I did a little college radio, but I'm no expert (it seems to me that people on this board are)...I think Val sounds very pleasant on the air. She definitely has a great voice, and I find her show on Mix to be just fine. She always sounds jazzed about the songs she introduces and I don't know what "liners" are, so I don't really understand what you guys are saying, but I met Val at Adventure Landing about a week ago and she was so sweet to me and my daughter! She even took a picture of me and my daughter with Hello Kitty for me and gave her some Mix stickers and "fixed" the prize wheel so she'd win!

I met Jim from Mix once at a car dealership a while back when I was shopping for a new car, and he totally rubbed me the wrong way...the first thing he said to me was something like, Hi in case you don't know who I am, I'm Jim Pastric and then proceeded to grill me about how I felt about the switch from Oldies...

I like Bill & Gail a lot too....I think this station is awesome, and my friends all listen to it now. I used to listen to the Edge and sometimes Star at work, but totally switched to Mix to first check Val out...then stayed because the music is so much better than Star (no overplaying of that aweful Beyonce song!)

So maybe I'm missing something about Val, but to me as a listener I think she is just awesome!!!

OH and on the topic of who's taking Adam's spot on the Edge? no one has mentioned tom tran? I think he sounds great...Paul sounds a little boring.

Element/Philip:
i merely suggested, Clay - - just as a "out there" suggestion, perhaps,
even if number one, doesnt mean he is happy....

didnt mean to say, CLAY ( in a ratings perspective ) should make that career decision....
but as a -person- who may want to change...??? that wasnt to start any rumors,
or to "degrade" ( as in, insult) clay - but, i know of him, seeing him at
college, and station events, and *he SELLS* his love for country;
but i dont know him personally.

Next:
Val... (radio,999) she is always "cold" when i see her....
HEY VaL - station awesome/sound great/etc
val/rolls eyes, "thanks" ( and is difficult to approach at times)....

the other (talents) i have no comment since i dont believe i met them,
or seen them enough at station events, etc.

i will say, jim mcgee, is a great guy - and i think he would be FUN on the edge.
tom tran is also an excellent choice...and agree Paul Brennan, already sounds bored.
late nite, the laid-back sound, is acceptable, but at 8pm, u gotta get jacked !!!! haha
(although, adam, never reeeely was loud/obnoxious! ) but, he had such a unique
command of the language....i miss him!

my ringing endorsements:
- josh potter. yes, seriously, he currently is a great talent with a STRONG supporting cast;
but, has PROVEN himself, on the next new wave show. that, i believe is a 3-hr show, and
he is just *NOT* front/back selling ( that was this edge artist, and that edge artist) he actually
provides insight to the bands, and does so w/ a great command of the language...he would
get my top vote. (him, or evil gym,lol - but i DOUBT he wants PD-responsibilities and a night shift ).

I don't know about him. I've heard him in 3 different facades, the New Wave show, Shredd and Ragan, and doing regular fill in jock shifts. He's maybe TOO off color at times? What kind of vibe do you get from some of his cringy one-liners? Is that good for a jock shift playing music? He just seems too smart-alecky(sp?) for his own good... Or maybe thats a good thing? Im just not sure

SSS....
remember it is the 'edge' ....Maybe over, the edge!
-not family radio, (102/96) or even 98.5-
but i wonder, if he would WANT to leave the Shredd/ragan environment?

Well it would be interesting to hear, needless to say. He would be one of the first jocks in a long time that is actually out of the target demo because they are YOUNGER than it, what is he like 19 years old or something???

Still... a 21 year old in a full time spot??? Thats still 4 years out of the demo... and beside who's that young in this market that is as prominant? Does that mean he deserves it??

I know Mr. Pastrick frequents this board, and I don't know what the Citadel enviroment is like at all, but 103.3 and 104.1 ARE in the same building... Perhaps Mr. Pastrick would know, is this "kid" the real deal? Do we have him to look forward to in the years to come?

Since Potter is a part of the Shredd & Ragan team, he's likely not a candidate for the night opening at the Edge. The guy comes up with some great stuff and he works on the show's content.

BTW, don't expect any Entercom, Citadel, or Regent employee who posts here to offer any opinions in matters like this. They probably have restrictions on what they can put in writing when it comes to commenting on anything that happens inside their clusters. Legal stuff. I'm surprised some of them even post here, so I guess they deserve some credit for doing so.

About Michelle the (not so) Eternal Intern, word is she went back to school, got her Master's degree and hasn't thought about radio since. How about that. She kicked the habit cold turkey.
