I've been hearing his voice on radio spots for Lending Tree. At first, I wasn't sure; I recognize the tone of his voice from his appearances on "Family Guy" as "Mayor Adam West;" then, the other day, for the first time, I saw a television commercial, with Adam West appearing on-screen. I guess he has to supplement his "Batman" royalties somehow...

The fact is, Adam West has a good voice, and it's relatively easy money - a couple hours of his time, and a short drive to some recording studio. Why shouldn't he do voiceover work even if he doesn't need the money?

And let's not forget his Family Guy work. 
If you like doing the work, why not? Whether he does or doesn't "need" it (a subjective definition to begin with), maybe it's something he enjoys doing.

And he DOES still have a great voice, even at age 81 (according to IMDB).
i bought the "Ultimate" Petticoat Junction DVD set a few years back and also, more recently. the "Official" First Season DVD set put out by CBS/Paramount..In the first season of "PJ" there was a two part story arc in which Adam West appeared as a doctor..aired Jan. 14 and 21, 1964..In watching these episodes and closing your eyes..you can hear the "Batman" inflection in West's voice..2 years before Batrman's premiere...

It was Adam West's ability to really 'ham it up'...and not take the part too seriously that got him the part in the first place. The people behind "Batman" had come fairly close to casting Lyle Waggoner for the part", before deciding that he couldn't get "hammy" enough to pull it off.
Waggoner...as many might remember...ended up having a successful run as a cast memeber on CBS-TV's "Carol Burnett Show".

Or maybe he needs the money after getting soaked like everyone else did in the markets a couple of years ago. Dignity holds its head high, takes a risk, does whatever it takes to keep the lights on - no matter. If it involves big dollars to get back to where one was in order to pull ahead again, all the better. People have their talents.
