I believe one of Georgia Eagle's stations - Warner Robins and to the south - is also all-Christmas now. Apparently I don't know anything about programming any more because I think all-Christmas music shortly after Halloween is too early and overkill. Working on holidays just went with the territory, but when we would usually go all-Christmas from about 6PM on Christmas Eve through 6PM on Christmas Day, at least it was something special for the announcers and the listeners. We would usually start slipping in maybe one Christmas song per daypart after Thanksgiving, then gradually increasing the holiday tunes within the format. There's just something wrong about a steady diet of
Dean Martin, Bing Crosby and the Harry Simeone Chorale on an A/C station for two months. Radio stations have burned out a lot of good Christmas music. How long before someone goes all Christmas, all the time - year round?
