AGM job shuffles

If its on a bad stick, the only way listeners will stay for any length of time is if they can't get the music anywhere else.......unless you gorilla market - on the street - in your face - top of mind - ALL the time.......and even then the life expectancy isn't super long....unless there are really no other choices a listener can take.

Without sounding too sour (ex-employee here!) the company doesn't really have the track record of "sticking with" this format in this market. We flipped the then S.L.O. property to a CHURBAN with lots of old school....kicked butt!.....( I always tell myself I should have never taken Joe's offer to move to ABQ!! the beach was REALLY nice there!)

I think they've been consistent in Bakersfield....but the freq is better there. Its like investing....you have your majority of eggs someplace safe - then you take a few to gamble with -(1) this format, (2) for this company,(3) in this market, I think is always gonna be a gamble until 1,2,or 3 changes.

I can just immagine that colony of gorillas on Sandia roaring into town to threaten people to listen. ::)

Stealth marketing is "guerilla" marketing, a reference to stealth warfare combat; gorillas are in zoos, or working at some radio stations I know.

I can Think of Other Formats That AGM can do that would deliver a product that can bring in Mooola.
Question The Range Pulled a 3.2 in the Last Trend, they are right there with Big I & Krst all Be it a bit of an Older demo and Their Sales Folks Can't sell It! They can sell 98.5 an even Older demo...seems to be a problem in the sales Department and as always Programing suffers from poor sales...Fire the Morning guy who is getting you ratings and Keep the Sales person who can't sell. Yes I know the Challenges of Sales ,but sometimes you have to be creative, we get results for our advertisers on 1600 how else could we survive for over 4 years.... Watch what we do with our new talker, we learned from others mistakes and we are still tweaking but we have been getting Great response.....

Question wasn't Chuck Morgan The guy that pulled the Plug on The Range when he was at Univision?

I am NOT putting anyone down for what they do or Don't Do..it is always a learning experince to try and figure out why folks do what they do, so I can get better at what I do.....

OH BTW....I maybe hiring...I may need a Board op not Much...shoot me an e-mail

OH another BTW to AGM web guy...You Have on Your Page that you air Dick Clark...You do NOT we do you might want to change that and you also have on your pic page pics of Barbra Fox doing a remote..you do Know that she has been with us since April, you might want to fix that OR not BUT thanks for promoting My shows on your web page GRACIAS

As Always Good Luck and Fight The Good Fight

No..from a reliable source, the big guns, Gary Stone etc, came to town, held a meeting in which the staff was in a two day meeting, to change the Range to Recuerdo. From what is told, the change was already decided upon by corporate, and the behind the scenes was being done while the meeting was going on. Recuerdo is David's Eduardo's format..and I suppose was instituted to buffer KJFA.

Here's the rub. The Range was on track to bill 1+ Million. Recuerdo has been basically a no-show in billing.

Mr. Morgan was duped along with the rest of the staff. Again, reportedly, the decision and method didn't sit well to this day with staff.
The meeting was basically guiding the staff to make the decision..when in fact, the decision was made and planned well ahead of the
event.

Thanks for The info....So if With Chuck There at the time and The Range was going to Bill A Mil Then Why with Chuck at AGM and with This Version of The range doing Better then the one at Univison The question is Why did they Dump it??? Why Couldn't They Bill with The range at AGM

Question is Bobby Box on Vacation again NO Roots of Rock n Roll This Morning and I did not hear him this past week??? with Big Ben

An amusing story. And as factual as the X-men movie.

BIA says that KKRG is billing a million now...

Playing new music maybe. Mid eighties would be a nice niche to live in for the format. Play the hits from that era..no new music..and an ever so often old classic. Why play new songs that are played to death on two major signals. Both powerhouses?
Just my opinion.

David, I'm sure there's more to the story..but the person relating the story felt duped.
As far as billing, the only way Recruerdo is billing a million is as a bonus to KJFA buys added in.

That's right out of BIA, which I used to avoid seeming defensive.

The whole story, though, is bogus; the company has two-day full staff meetings several times a year in each market and has since the HBC days and the TMS days before them. The nice thing is that the meetigs allow the participation of everyone on the staff in each market to be part of future planning and each contributes.

Diddo! Hello everyone from Chicago! What? Pitufo in Chicago? Yes sir! Anyway Our cluster here in Chicago has that type of dynamic going on: WGCI Hip Hop and R&B; KISS FM CHR....BUT AGAIN ITS CHICAGO MARKET #3 not Albuquerque market #69 HUGE HUGE Difference.

I have said time and time again ALBUQUERQUE IS NO JOKE when it comes to radio! Best of Luck to everyone.  In the mean time check out the website MEGA955.com

Ironic how Mega flipped to Smooth Jazz in ALBUQUERQUE in 2006...2009 Smooth Jazz flips to Mega here in Chicago! Good things come to those who wait & WORK HARD!

Name 3 in a market with 10% or less African American.

The cluster I was thinking of when I made that post is Clear Channel's San Francisco cluster, where they have urban KMEL and rhythmic KYLD.  San Francisco, by the way, is 7.1% African American according to Arbitron.

My point was not that it would work in Albuquerque nor that it was common.  It was simply that a rhythmic/urban combo can be successful.
