Air-1 and K-Love

Yep 100% now. This is why we recently got K-Love in Columbus, OH which has for years had a very successful Christian CCM station. If EMF could get a signal for the right price in St Louis with the coverage they would want - I would bet you they would happily launch K-Love there.
While there are probably some rimshot opportunities available, Boost has an in-market signal (the former KFUO-FM) that would make it hard to compete against.

Trying to use the K-LOVE station finder, it appears that the nearest station is 92.1 KMFC Centralia, MO, whose class C3 signal isn't even going to reach Warren County, much less St. Charles or St. Louis. There appears to be no K-LOVE presence within about 100 miles of St. Louis, whether in Missouri or Illinois. Interesting.

They had Air1 on some signals in the St. Louis area. One went off the air. The other translator is being leased to another entity.

St. Louis has a ton of Christian stations. If EMF ever bought another signal in St. Louis, I could see them putting Air1 on it again now that Air1 is Contemporary Worship. That would give them a niche that isn't otherwise filled. They otherwise have a good relationship KLJY and Boost, as they run Boost on several of their signals. They're not going to go in there and put K-LOVE on and compete with KLJY while at the same time running Boost on stations around the country. That would not make much sense to compete with an organization that they have a working relationship with as far as signals go.

They are "tenants" on the Fish 104.7 tower (locally known as the Fish Stick) in Atlanta. IIRC they use same antenna. KLove has around 3 times the power as the Fish which is owned be Salem. If you look up Salem's stock it is non profit too. Much to the shareholders disappointment.

On the subject of The Fish, I recall seeing that that station plays music that is not Christian. I saw a newspaper article today about artists who have gotten out of Christian music and are now regarded as too secular by CCM and too religious by regular radio or music genres. Seems like The Fish would be willing to play them.

They do play a lot of secular Christmas Music. Since the demise of Peach / Lite on 94.9, 98.5 doesn't play much Christmas music. One year 94.1 played Christmas music but usually The Fish has the Christmas music to themselves. At least a top three 6+. There are a lot of commercials too. Smooth Jazz 101.1and 100.1 usually mixes in some "Christmas standards" after Thanksgiving.

Does WCVO have commercials? In that case they would. Only non commercial stations did they try to avoid competing with. They would put on K-LOVE if a station had any preaching shows mixed in. KSBJ is non commercial as far as I know, but they went on in Houston anyway so that leads me to believe they stopped avoiding them directly. For years it was only Air1 in Houston.

WCVO is licensed commercial, so they air commercials but also do "fundraisers" a few times a year too. (They have multiple noncommercial signals in Ohio which they run 'unwriting spots on' while 104.9 airs actual commercials).
