Air America on WPTT

But how would a kids radio station

Get any ratings in the first place?

Radio Disney may be the top listened to radio station in the world for all we know- but the fact of the matter is if all of their audience is under 12- and I do believe that is their target audience- it's not going to show up in the ratings.

For whatever it's worth- I have friends with kids and when I've ridden with them they usually have Radio Disney on.

Radio for kids is not a bad idea. But the way they try to record its audience is a bad idea.

Re: Just one thought, re NASCAR

You also had the fact that for WPTT to carry Nascar races on Sundays, they were stuck with a handful of Busch races, the Coca Cola Race Refresher, Ned Jarret's World of Racing and the Pit Reporters as part of their agreement to carry Nascar. Plus, MRN was moving away from bartering their product to charging for it, and WPTT moving away from sports and toward just a talk station, and maintaining Nascar programming on a station that wasn't going to go out of its way to promote it just seemed like a wasted effort.

That being said, on the right outlet, I am sure Nascar would be a money maker. WPTT just opted not to be that outlet.

The two Pittsburgh AMs would likely be unattractive to all three of those companies. Cox hates AM, only keeps top performaers like WDBO in Orlando and WOKV in Jacksonville (then again, maybe they'd try news/talk on 540...)

Entercom sold Y108 and WEEP (1080) several years ago and exited the market.

And Citadel woud want to buy out Steel City or Renda, not just get 2 AMs here.

If a big company would be interested in these two it would be Salem. Otherwise if Disney sells, look for these properties to go to the likes of Steel City, Keymarket/Forever, or Robert Stevens (620/770).<P ID="signature">______________
