Having fun test driving an AirAura this week... it's on the bench and then next Wed. it goes on the air. Tomorrow morning I'll be bugging Mike with some questions.
Some observations. VERY clean on voice, and very natural. Since the station this is going on will be 75% spoken word, that's a big concern. Music of course, sounds good too. What I like so far is that you can start very "neutral" and then tailor to what flavor you want the audio to have. I've been able to go from wall of sound to open and punchy and in between. I've also been able to match the tonal balance with PGM and what's coming out of the processor. That alone is a pretty mean feat. The SST AGC/Compressor is probably the easiest to set up and smoothest I've used so far.
Only a couple of cons in my couple of days experience so far... I would like a way to have a de-emphasized output on the analog outs and MPX on the BNC. Unless I've missed something, if I switch to MPX out on the BNC the analog outs go pre-emphasized and the levels are HOT. Some kind of metering for the stereo expander would be very helpful too. And a way to quickly duplicate the settings on the HD and FM limiter sections.
And what continues to amaze me through this whole process is how close Breakaway can come very close to all of these $10k plus processors!!
