Kevin Martin, the commission's chair person is WAY more concerned about this XM/Sirus merger than he is about some 50KW FM station that stopped playing 60's Oldies in Nashville, TN and went Classic Hits. Catch my drift? I get constant NAB email alerts all day long on this subject.
I don't think the FCC ever had any interest in format changes...but Martin will never allow the XM/Sirius merger
to happen...and has repeatedly said so.

Chris,
You and I know that the commission never cared about format changes and never will, but some idiots (George Jones's Wife) can't seem to get that in thier head, especially after that stupid stunt she pulled the day after the FCC hearings back in the winter. Kevin Martin, and the other commisioners feel like I do, we don't want one company to be the Wal-Mart of Satellite Radio.
I mad that AmSouth has bought Regions Bank!

Are they calling to request that you drop Bob and Tom?

Heh...NO!

Hey Bratcher,

I wonder why she asked that question? Your Boss, Steve Newberry would have just laughed! Bear in mind, it's the 55 plus crowd that is upset with this B & T thing in the Nashville Market, don't take thier comments personal. Just ignor that. Your station is not in the Nashville Market.

Yeah, I know what market I'm in.

Thanks.

These conversations illustrate why I have no interest in going there, or home to Louisville, or anywhere else bigger than BG. Who in their right mind would wanna work for some "big box" radio company? People that need stress and anxiety to live? And, we had our share of Bible-thumpers' feathers get rustled when we first put BnT on, but that all went away rather quickly. Granted, we waited till they toned down their content before we made the move. But, it was one of the best things we could have done. I am just continually amazed at how boring, lame, unexciting, and basically lifeless larger market stations are. CC and Cumulus are really just screwing it up for the listener. People move down here to Bowling Green for work or what not from larger markets, and some of the calls we get make it sound like they've never heard a good rock station IN THEIR LIVES! Its rather sad.
