Alan Michaels on KWFM

Listened this morning for a much longer time than yesterday--about two hours. Alan did say that he was on from 6-10, and that "Sonny D" (whoever THAT really is) had "graciously" agreed to move to 10AM to accomodate his return. Heard nothing that would indicate a "live" broadcast: No phones, weather, etc. At least Cheap Channel had the decency not to run the "Live from the Brake Masters studios" BS liners...

sorry...heat must be getting to me. :-[

What a shame. Clear Channel still remains CHEAP Channel and can't even put Alan on live

After listening for a while, Alan gives no current temps or time checks. Plus he never talks with any listeners, rather only mentions his Facebook page and the number to the front desk as ways to contact him. Just another typical voice-tracked gig. Alan is MUCH too talented to settle for this kind of radio mediocrity.

At least for the past few weeks we've had a high end again on 1450. Maybe they've done us a favor and turned off the IBOC for good!

I concur. For the moment, at least, the signal is not the muddy mess it was for far too long.

Alan is indeed voicetracked. He's still selling cars at Jim Click the rest of the day.

Sonny D. = DeWayne Chavez who is also on Hot 98.3.

KWFM doesn't bill enough to justify full-time salaries anymore.

Wow--so he wasn't even born when every song that Cool 1450 plays was released (especially since they ditched everything post early 70s)!

Current format seems to be 1960s and early 1970s plus a few super hits of the 1950s thrown in to keep us interested.

...which is basically the exact mix they had until a couple of years ago--when they dumped Alan and "AC" (Alan Cook) and tried to youth-anize their demo by dumping all 50s and everything pre-64/65, emphasizing the 70s and even venturing into early 80s territory.
I guess that didn't work so now it's back to geezerdom...

I agree with you landtuna-the oldies that COOL 1450 plays is timeless-how can you not love hearing the Beach Boys,Beatles,Motown Sound, some of the '50's classics and ,as they say, the list goes on and on. It would be much more tolerable if the 1450 signal were better, not so muddy,or is just my radios(all of them?) Listening to Alan on COOL and he sounds like he's back at it having fun again-he sounds real.

If I think back to long, long ago, I actually CAN remember a time in my misbegotten youth when I truly did enjoy hearing the music in question. Then, something terrible happened: Tightly-formatted, limited-playlisted oldies radio came along and ruined them for me forever :'(.
Now it's just ersatz nostalgia. To quote Lois Griffin (from the "Bird Is the Word" episode): "Kids, back in the '80s these '50s diners were all the rage".

I agree with you in many instances-I hear the same music-both oldies and todays'-country,too both on local radio and even satellite radio. On the passing of Ron Jacobs-he was an outstanding person-a true professional-gentle and very smart-he would always be there to help you in any way he could with no strings--my thoughts and prayers are with his family-I,too, was a friend. May he rest in peace-

10-4. Heard KWFM yesterday and there was no hash 'n' hiss on the first and second adjacents.

OTOH, CC's KNST 790 was still I-CRAPping all over the place.

Sooo that WAS Alan doing some tv spot for Channel Choice-thanks for confirming-I like the Oldies format and listening to him on COOL 1450 he sounds good-knows what he's talking about and I know from I have heard he is involved in many local charieties and always has been. But that signal at 1450--- has it ALWAYS been that bad??? and why doesn't CC do something about it!!!If they wanted him to back hosting mornings- at least give him a clear signal to bring back the listeners.
