How about Sam Pruitt news guy from WALG and Bo Stone? I miss the Johnny Reb Radio days.

Stormychuck said:As I remember WQDE was a 3 station ownership of Southland Radio Inc. with another in Brunswick, and a sister station WQDI in Homestead, Florida, they billed themselves as Q-Dee radio, Big Jim Wiggins and his band of character's, 3 good ole southern boy's who had their hand's in running these stations as owner operator's and I guess the local banks as well, so whatever happened to Jim Wiggins, Larry Dean and was it Bill Stewart?
Interesting point, Larry Dean was missing an arm, and could run an on-air board and just as tight as any two armed guy could, these stations were back in the 70's and early 80's and long story short, WQDI in Homestead was a 500watt day timer and these 3-guy's with their on-air antics, country music and their good ole country bumpkin style turned this little 500 watt day timer into a multi-mega-buck operation. The knew what it took to run a successful local small time station......Very talented people....

I started off with John Dawson in Bainbridge on 97.3 WJAD in August of 1989. We did mornings together there until late 1993 when the new owners moved the station to Albany and I came her to do the "Jim & Tammy Morning show on the new station "98.9 The Breeze" My morning partner Jim Avery left the station in 1998 and John came back so we were "reunited" and have been together ever since. John Dickey changed the format and the name of the station to Star 98.9 in 1999. John Dawson has been doing an amazing job programming the station since 2003. If your on Facebook please find me.

His main employment for the past few years was with WCTV as a Master Control Op, but moved over to WTWC this past year. He's doing well, and I think might stop by here occasionally. I'll make sure and tell him to say hello.
