Alex Langer to Take WRKO Head-On

Re: ABOVE POST JUST A TROLL - BIX stays business

Amen !!!! Give me any of these stations WBIX ( formerly WMEX 1060) or WRKO for one year and I would make it NUMBER ONE in Local Talk Radio in Boston.

Excellent point. Boston IS local. Syndie stuff usualy plays poorly. So why isn't TKK doing it if everybody wants it?? I think the answer may be that it skews too old and ad agencies ain't buying. Where is the fresh local talent? The blog show on RKO is a start. Who else??

This sounds like Deja Vu all over again.
Remember WMEX in 2000? Claprood,Jerry Williams, Glick, and Upton Bell?
Although I'm convinced that the over the hill gang( WRKO has beens) would have worked as it evolved, and if Bleidt hadn't barged in, this is not a news flash, nor is it accurate.
In my humble opinion Langer should add Claprood and Whitley if Whitley can break his contract with Entercom, ( and wants to) Langer should also consider putting Bloomberg overnight and also as a news feed, local news on the hour and half hour, with ticker on the tens, and traffic and weather together.
Talk without the information would be no change at all from how it sounds now

Because WTKK has clueless management. Missed chance to take over the market.

Alex Langer' credibility

Alex Langer is totally above reproach in this matter. He has not done anything wrong, and he has NOTHING to apologize for. Alex stands to lose a massive amount of money over Bleidt's criminal deeds. Bleidt's actions were his own.
Alex is a great guy, and a responsible broadcaster from the word go.
For you or anybody else to even imply otherwise is foolish and irresponsible.
Get the facts next time BEFORE you shoot your mouth off!

I Doubt It

I can't see that happening.

WBIX-1060's future is most likely with some kind of leased-time ethnic format.

I could see WBIX consider flipping to Spanish-language programming, given that WAMG-890/WLLH-1400 will soon abandon that format.

On the other hand, WBIX's success with Spanish-language programming will abruptly come to an end if/when a Boston-area FM radio station flips to Spanish-language programming. A Boston-area FM station broadcasting in Spanish would dominate Spanish-language listening in the market, and there is no realistic way any Spanish-language station on the AM dial could compete.

The question is: Will Spanish-language programming come to Boston's FM dial sooner or later?? I think a Spanish-language format on Boston's FM dial is long overdue, but will anyone actually do it??
