Alexis DelChiaro Signs Off

Just noticed on Alexis DelChiaro's twitter page that she has decided not to renew her contract with FOX 10. I always enjoyed her on the Morning and Noon News. I thought she brought enjoyment to morning new. Plus I really love that it is live and local. Having live in the Eastern Time Zone and being able to get things live, you miss that in a sense so it's great that they are live and local and not something that is either 2 or 3 hours old. I know formeraa you told me to try out 3TV but it ain't working for me. Love the live and local, can't say that enough.

Here is her blog on the story.

One other side note, maybe this needs its own thread, but I noticed on Keith Yaskin's Twitter page, as of September 1st 2010 he is on his last 9 months at FOX 10.

Here is the link for that blip from his twitter page:

Pretty shocking if you ask me. Can't wait to read the comments of the fellow board seekers and posters.

As a regular viewer of the Fox 10 Morning Show I was surprised when she announced her departure this morning as well. She has been a good pairing with Rick D. and the rest of the morning staff. But Andrea will be returning from maternity leave pretty soon so the loss won't seem as large.

I just have never been able to "get into" the Fox 10 Morning Show, not exactly sure why. When I turn on AZAM, I see two old guys ogling two young blondes plus a weird weather guy. Just "telling like it is"! :D

To each their own...

Over the last week, I've been cheating on KTVK's GMAZ and started watching Fox 10 Mornings. I was surprised on Friday when Ms. DelChiaro announced that she was leaving and not going to another broadcasting position. I wish her luck.

I moved to Phoenix in 2000 and Fox 10 has gone through 3 female hosts: Ilona Carson, Jenn Burgess and now Alexis. Are they going to insert another blond? Might be time to add in a different type/look.

Alexis Vance (brunette) has been filling in for Andrea Robinson and taking Rick D.'s shift when he's off. I don't think she is comfortable being a host yet but she is learning quickly. I imagine she will continue to be a filler after Andrea returns.

No.....only one old guy.....unless you count yourself (or me). Rick is the token studio male on the show and is backed by Cory and Jamie from field locations. All three do weather. The only guys ogling are Ben and Matt from KNIX (but they can't see the studio folks, can they?).

Wow, I guess the blonde model wasn't working them! I might just have to tune in and see how this works out... Honestly, I think I need a break from the Tara, Scott, and Kaley show.

landtuna...you're forgetting about the Hooner...HOW COULD YOU?! ;D

I must admit it was nice to ogel at alexis and andrea(respectfully).Give kristin some time i think she will fit in nicely.Good luck kristen.

As I pondered my thoughts about am television, I am just watching while getting ready for work. My main concerns are traffic, a news update, and weather in that order. It sure would be nice if someone did "traffic and weather together on the 3's or 5's or something like that -- kind of like radio stations.

As for listening for longer periods of time, I watch weekend GMAZ. Too bad Fox 10 doesn't do a weekend morning show.

You're right, I did forget. But I was thinking of the primary players and not the news guy but then remembered he does participate in the studio banter.

I was surprised to see Rick still off this morning and replaced with Troy Hayden who, I thought, did a credible job as a stand-in.

I couldn't have said it better myself. I really liked his personality on the show this morning. He worked well. I also noticed too that it appears from what I can tell that they have divided up the anchor team.

I have never watched the show at 4:30 AM. But it appears from Kristin's twitter page that she is working 4:30 - 7 and 12:00 - 12:30.

So from what I understand she and Ron Hoon anchor 4:30 - 7, then Rick D'Amico comes in at 7:00, can someone please verify this and then from the sounds of it Andrea Robinson will be taking over the 7 - 10 shift that Alexis filled. Then Ron Hoon stays at the anchor desk for the rest of the show. Then you have Cory on the whole show.

This is what some of the other FOX O&O Stations have done, have the two sets of anchors.

I caught her on the noon news. I really like her, was impressed, she has a nice smooth voice, no shrill, thank god and just seemed very professional. I think she is gonna make a great fit.

Personally I would love to see Troy Hayden moved to the AM Shift. I really loved that there was no nervous laughter, no major mistakes, no reading Alexis' lines on the teleprompter. Everything flowed smoothly from what I saw this morning.

And yes Rick is always oggling the women on the show. One time he was taking to Beth on the TV Monitor in the loft and walked over to the tv and tried to look down at her cleavage and chest through the tv monitor. Both Andrea and Alexis responded by saying they needed to wear turtlenecks, which the following day they did.

Alexis D. and Andrea both work extremely well with Rick and I doubt they took serious umbrage at his "joke". This type of stuff is pretty normal on the morning show and Alexis D. was as good at it as was Rick. You have to remember that both Rick and Beth are radio people so they tend to get a little more "wild" than the TV studio group. Beth is always making suggestive jokes during her segments and Rick plays off them humorously. IMHO it is too bad Beth is doing a full gig on radio because her TV segments are usually too short.

I've really enjoyed the chemistry of these folks and hope they can continue with Alexis D.'s departure.

Well, if you look at Kristen's bio, it's not exactly filled with "hard" news experience. So, if anyone can fill Alexis' shoes, Kristen should be able to. If not, she will be gone in a year...might be gone in a year anyway based on Fox 10 history. :D

Also, to musicfan, I thoroughly enjoyed Troy this morning. If they put him on permanently, I would definitely switch to Fox 10 in the morning. However, Troy is one of their main evening anchors. Mornings would be a demotion for him.

I am guessing that Kristen came up through the Yuma "farm system" as did Alexis D. I thought Alexis did a good job of presenting the news segment when she was asked to do it even though her on-air persona was much lighter. I didn't catch Kristen's appearance this morning so can't compare them yet. And if they split the morning show into segments I'll likely never see Kristen because I'm not on the TV before 7.

I've been watching the morning show for about the past year but don't remember any regular leaving before Alexis. Do they not have a history of long-term on-air talent?

BTW, the morning show and, occasionally the noon news are about the only Fox 10 shows I watch. Their other programming is just too poor.

Well, it depends on how long is "long". :D

I've been here 5.5 years and I believe they're on their third female (Jenn, Alexis, Kristen). Of course, Andrea was a later addition.

They are definitely splitting the newsteam (before 7am vs after 7am). I watched from 6:40am to 7:30am this morning. Before 7am, the main team was Ron and Kristen with Vance doing traffic. Then, Hayden and Vance took over at 7am (actually Troy started at 6:45am with a Beth radio segment) with Ron doing news updates from the newsroom. I didn't see Kristen after 7am.

I tuned in about 7:30 and 30-45 minutes later they had Kristen doing a segment on a glass artist.

I can now understand why "someone at Fox 10 who is afflicted with mammary interest" selected Kristen. ;D
