Tony9000 said:He was on with JV and Elvis for about 5-10 minutes. Seemed really nice and was looking forward to making WFNY a great station.

As Mainelli is a big-time promoter of right-wing radio, expect Free FM to move hard right. Don't be surprised if Free FM picks up Rush Limbaugh should WABC drop him over his sicko comments on Michael J. Fox.
PeteRFNY said:Mainelli isn't a promoter of "right-wing" radio. He's a promoter of talk radio that brings in listeners.
With one station (WABC) already covering that area, it's not likely he'll swing WFNY in the same direction.

Tony9000 said:He is not moving WFNY to the type of radio WABC does. He will be moving it to Hot Talk with talk. Something different all together. If he moves this station to that format, that will go against the Free-fm across the country and he will be looking for 50+ as listeners. I am not sure that is what WFNY or the Free-FM is looking for.

I think Mainelli will be MOViN the station in about 6 months.

Tony9000 said:I do not see Limbaugh as a WFNY FM person, his show is AM on most all NY stations and almost all stations that he is on.

"Hot Talk" = Right-Wing Radio. Its only purpose is to stir up the far right.
That is wrong, "hot talk" is young male oriented talk, Leykis (like him or not), Ron and Fez, Radio Chick, O and A, Stern (although he's not usually credited as such, he's seen as an Island unto himself). Right wing talk is Limbaugh, O'reilly, G. Gordon Liddy, everyone on wabc/wor Bob grant, "Hot talk" before Janet Jackson was mostly T n A talk, although guys like Mancow is a right wing guy himself and all of a sudden decided that he could do politics as well as T and A because Howard does both. O and A tend to have right wing bents as well but that is just a symptom of their being a couple of blue collar yucks from Long Island and not trying to promote an agenda so much. Two different animals, at least on paper. Just because some right wing shows are put on fm sticks that does not make those stations "hot talk" i think you're confused and lumping any fm talk outlet in as a "hot talk" station, not true.
