All-Access : WLFP (94.1 The Wolf)/Memphis To Move To 99.7, 'Sunsetting' Hot AC WMC (FM 100)

I'm listening via the Audacy player right now and right underneath the station logo and the "live" button it says "Memphis' New Country. WLFP-FM is spinning the best Country music, live from Memphis." So there you go. It's not only playing good country music; it's playing the best!
So George Strait, Geroge Jones, Merle Haggard, Alan Jackson, The Judds, Glen Campbell and Conway Twitty?

Right now, theyve got a recorded announcer over the WMC-FM livestream feed redirecting everyone to 99.7, IDing as WLFP FM and WLFP HD1.... Over WLFPs livestream its business as usual as 99.7 the wolf..this is interesting.
Is anyone recording this for the rest of us?

Sadly most of “us” weren’t still in the demo for FM100. Remember when all those easy listening stations changed in the 80s? Back then, “we” didn’t listen to elevator music and were glad to see sleepy muzak disappear and something better and semi-contemporary take over the radio station for old people.
I wasn't in that "we" and still am not.

I recorded the announcement before posting that, it'll probably be up on youtube shortly.

The WMC feed seems to be airing fm100 now...seems like audacy changed it from being a playlist only station to actually being online only.

No posters in this Memphis forum actually live near Memphis? Or are there many, but they don't have radios anymore?
Well, since the programming no longer originates from Memphis, why do we, as listeners, need to live in or near Memphis, either?

I grew up on FM 100 (had the rabbit ears on the roof of the house so that I could get them), then last week, listened to them sign off online through my stereo system here near Nashville.

A fair amount of us seem to have ties to Memphis, but it doesn’t sound like many of us still live near there. When I went to college there, I got the impression Memphis was a great place to be from. I didn’t stay long, but, of the friends I made, staying in Memphis didn’t seem to be part of any of their plans.

Gotcha. My only connection is three years spent in Arkansas, listening to both Memphis and Little Rock radio a lot and being much more impressed and entertained by the talent working in Memphis at the time (1977-80). I only actually visited Memphis a couple of times, mostly because I was on my first job, as a one-man sports department for a small Arkansas newspaper, and had neither the money nor the spare time to explore Memphis' many attractions or go to concerts or sports events there -- although I did get to see Jerry Lawler wrestle at the Mid-South Coliseum!
