"All Christmas"

OK, maybe I am one of only a few dozen people in Memphis watching Studio 60 on NBC, but, here’s an aside:

As part of the "Christmas Show" (which has played twice now), the show featured a set of New Orleans musicians assembled by the Tipitina's Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to rebuilding the City’s musical heritage. Their all-brass rendition of “O Holy Night” will simply give you goose bumps.*

For those of you stuck in the rut of “All Christmas,” y’all need to play it. Beyond being simply brilliant music, it has a message appropriate for this time of year. And, it surely beats the stuffin' out of 90% of the garbage recycled this time of year.

I dunno… maybe it’s more meaningful to me, being educated in The Crescent City, and having a mother who just moved back into her house after beginning her Biloxi remodel with a bulldozer. But, in any event, treat yourself, and at least listen to it. Stunning.

Saw that one. Tried to download the song the first time it aired, and the site was too busy. Awesome show. Just downloaded it, thanks for the reminder. The bit about Santa being busted by Dateline was great too. Love me some Studio 60... CFKane

Update...

Just heard Bill on WRVR plug the Tipitina site, and purpose, and played "O Holy Night", from the Studio 60 version. ;) Good Stuff... CFKane

Somewhere I was reading a post asking if this site had any direct influence on actual programming.... And the general consensus was NO. Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Cause-and-effect!
Kudos to DE and the 'RVR elves for being on the cutting edge of holiday hip!

Thanks Rob!

Good seeing you the other night, BTW...

By the way, I cannot help but recommend the only Christmas Album, I ever really enjoyed, from beginning to end. Twisted Sister's "A Twisted Christmas".

For those of us who memorized "Stay Hungry", or the lyrics to "Be Chrool to your School", your Holiday music has arrived. You've never heard, "O come all ye faithful" until you hear Dee on the lead vocals. Good times, Good times... CFKane
