All News 106.7??

It certainly looks like that. I think that since Mike Huckaber has been taken by WCFO, ARN Network will likely have to be used 9a-3pm. Th would explain both the COL change and the facilities staying the same.

Head fake. Look for a Rock 100 simulcast for the short term. Then spoken word on 99.

99? You mean 99.7?

This is bad news, pardon the pun. While I liked the Scott Shannon TOC version on this station a lot better as far as the variety and insights about the music/artists. I do occasionally listen to 106.7. It doesn't make sense for this station to play heavy 80's when Cumulus has Journey as well. I just hate to see Atlanta without a good variety, we just have a lot of the same tired songs on different stations, sad!

Don't hold your breath for a 99.7 flip!
This doesn't sound like the typical Dickey brothers radio approach.....this format (news) would actually require capital expenditures and staffing. I could see a hodgepodge of talk shows and prepackaged news presented as a "news/talk" format - that sounds more like a Cumulus concept.
Maybe they have come to the (correct) conclusion that all the music formats are already taken and if they want to build an audience they will have to take a different approach which *may* require the expenditure of money. Doh!

As stated in other posts, that's probably why they had little interest in making Olides 106.7 any better,
they wanted it to fail and needed the frequency.

But they could always put oldies on another signal.

Be greatful it isn't Merlin, but I feel spoken word is the start of the downgrade of terrestrial radio, we could call it "The MTV Effect"

Thirty years till FM Radio is airing Jersey Shore's thirty years in the future spinoff audio.

(sighs)

Then why the hell did WCFO sign up Huckabee?!?!

If Cumulus wants an all-news put it on 100.5 and turn off the stereo.

Based on what I've heard, from a very reliable source, it's a head fake indeed.
Wouldn't be the first time someone's dropped the money for a couple pizzas at GoDaddy or Tucows to keep 'em guessin'. But obviously something is afoot at 106.7...could it be some satellite-delivered programming since there's no studio for them...or maybe they will do a signal swap with 100.5 and 106.7 will get the 100.5 studio.

I think someone at the cloud company saw my April Fools post about Dave FM and decided to have some fun.

Why not flip Q100. Star 94.1 has the edge on this one! Cumulus CHR's simply are not what they used to be. It's just too bad 105.7/96.7 will not go Pure CHR. Then, you have 94..1 as a solid Hot AC and 105.7/96.7 (signal blows chunks) as the CHR mainstream station. Put 99X back on 99.7.

99X ain't coming back. Although I still think Dave could pull a B98.5 and run different (related) formats in the dayparts--AAA weekdays AM through PM drive, hard alt (99X stuff) after PM drive, classic 70s/80s alt weekends.

Also, I noticed that B98.5 was NOT running an 80s weekend this weekend...which left Dave, Journey, Rock 100.5, River, and AGH for 80s.

No way. If you are spending the $$ to put on all news, you want it on a BIG signal. It's expensive to run, so you need to get the biggest bang for your buck. Now, if it's more syndicated talk than news, that's another story

....and with all the people from the recently eliminated CNNRadio network out of work in Atlanta, it should be easy to find some great local talent for an all-news station. Don't be surprised if it's real.

Now, based on the radio-info article, I highly doubt a true "all-news" could survive in Nashville, Memphis or Oklahoma City.

99X will not come back until Alternative gets hot again, which, knowing a market like Atlanta, and current nationwide radio trends, will not happen, probably for quite some time.
