However, Audacy put its two NYC all-news stations -- both of which were among top billing in the nation -- onto a very unlevel playing field with that move. As Huff noted in your RadioInsight report, WCBS 880 has now dropped to a record low 1.5 share. Will the steep downward trend result in a corresponding drop in revenue? One has to wonder if giving such a lopsided signal advantage to WINS is just like robbing Peter to pay Paul.
A key part of WCBS revenue is baseball play by play. Ratings aren't as important as the team's play. Right now, it's not good.
The baseball hurts the news ratings, but brings advertisers that news can't get.
And when baseball season ends with both the Mets and the remaining AM news audience in the cellar, what the plan for keeping WCBS one of the top-10 billing radio stations in the nation?
They have college football and basketball. WCBS is not strictly a news station. That changed several years ago.

The Mets are already on WCBS 880, why did they have to hijack ALT 92.3 on the Audacy app with their Spanish broadcast?!?!?!?!?

Spanish language Mets coverage is not on WCBS 880, however, the English language coverage of the Mets airs on 880. And I'd like to also point out that it's not "hijacking," Audacy simply picked up Spanish language Mets coverage and is airing it on 880 for the baseball season. It's a miracle Audacy even decided to air it on an HD subchannel.

They own it, and can do whatever they want with it.
For the last time. There was not THEFT. Audacy owns both stations and made a business decision.
I'll say it. Alt was and continues to be a poorly performing station. Like, really poorly performing. Despite many attempts to air an alternative format, it just does not work in this market. Stream something you like, rather than trying to make Alt out to be more than the complete failure that it is. Audacy does not owe you anything.

I'd like for OP to explain to me how one would logistically steal control of both an FM transmitter and whatever periphery is at the other end of the STL anywhere on Earth, to say nothing of equipment which probably exists in a building with around-the-clock armed security.
You’re lucky ALT still exists on a stream/HD2. Audacy’s been cutting back on HD2/3s, so be happy you can hear it twenty hours a day instead of zero.

At concerts, and consuming recorded music via Spotify and Bandcamp. These are smart people who don't need the free offering with six-minute stopsets, because they have the income to pay for their access to music without ownership.
