They should have a morning show with an inviting personality that puts the emphasis on the music and information about the music.
If WBOS was a bust, then Florida wouldn't have been added.
the way WRFF has been doing it in Philly for the last 11 years, music intense, very little talk from Johnny and one hour music sweeps not any blah, blah, blah....
One has nothing to do with the other. Two very different stations in very different markets. The Detroit morning show is a better fit for Ft. Myers; K-Rock's music format is almost identical to that of WRIF. That station's morning drive history includes Howard Stern and Bubba the Love Sponge.
Do you think Beasley would ever move Toucher and Rich down to 92.9? They get good ratings yes but we know there not sports guys although they have done a good job adjusting over the last 9 years. Just a thought.
And anything has to be an improvement over Bubba, I caught him one day spinning the dial... I was horrified.
The best thing Beasley can do with that piece of shit 92.9 is blow it up and move Bloomberg to itSo was all of Hartford around 2003? iHeart owned Radio 104 WMRQ back then and the picked up Bubba to replace Dee Snider's local morning show. The station stunted with a wheel of formats for like half an hour before doing a big "press conference" to announce Bubba's show. He made deragatory remarks about the University of Connecticut Woman's Huskies basketball players. He referred to them as "sexy b****es". In Connecticut you don't mess with UCONN. The station's ratings plumetted further. In September 2003, Radio 104 gave way to Hip-Hop Power 104.1, which was a train wreck.

So your idea is take a 2 share station and make it a .3 share station? Wow.
I love the alternative format when it's done right.Well, at least it will be a station not saddled with the ad-agency stereotype of listeners as slackers still living in mom's basement and working nights stocking shelves at Walmart.

Or..... just another lap dogIt appears pretty obvious that WBOS will not be changing formats to anything other than Alternative. They just hired a new music director, and his background is Alternative:

He's from Boston, went to school at Emerson, so I'd expect he has good ideas about how to fix WBOS.
I have to think that 92.9 is worth, what, say about $50 million? It should post a profit of about 2-2.5 Million /yr for the asset to justify its existence. Any proposal would have to have a chance of accomplishing that. THe "Alt" format(s) are probably the best chance for them accomplishing that.
