Alternative Format in Waco, Temple, Killeen area?

If there was money to be made launching an alternative here, partner, I'd lobby 'til I was red in the face to just do it ourselves. There's just very little audience here for what the alternative format has become, and 96.1 has already picked up the likes of 3 Doors Down, Nirvana, RHCP, Pearl Jam, etc. It would be an extremely uphill battle to start from scratch again the well established rock outlet in ETX.

I realize that. It was wishful thinking. Mainstream Rock is less unlikely in East Texas than Alternative. I wouldn’t argue that it is likely either. I figured the 99.9/103.7/106.1 translators might take a chance with a more “niche format” like Alternative or Mainstream Rock. KKTX is far from a mainstream rock station. The newest song they play is 21 years old (Foo Fighters—“Times Like These”). The vast majority of the playlist is 70s-80s. It’d be nice to have a station mix in newer stuff.

I think the best shot at alternative for East Texas or somewhere like Waco/Temple/Killeen is for someone like KUTX or KXT to launch some translators, and even that is a long shot.

*Sighs and turns on satellite radio.

I’m actually in DFW, but I head to East Texas a lot for family.
