AM 1030 Elk Grove Granted by FCC

Exactly what you need another AM station. More clutter , in a horrible economy. When will anybody learn? There's nothing on AM , especially at night, with less people listening, another business pops on with a signal that amounts to nothing. Another potential foreclosure on hand in the valley.

While it's interesting to speculate, I really doubt if this new AM will have any significance. I don't know of any new AM - be it a new signal or a format change - that has become a significant factor in any market. Anywhere. Even the "Rush Radio" in Boston with all of the promotion and top-drawing right-wing formats they have is doing nothing. You can argue that conservative talk doesn't work very well on the coasts, but the fact remains that people who tune to AM tune to the stations they know about.

I hear lots of ads on the new AM in Jackson, but I have no idea how much they're charging. That may prove to be an exception - time will tell. But then again it's the only game in town.

At least until Clear Channel buys the station and I bet they will! Then we will see just what an impact the station will have in the market!

CC isn't going to buy this or any other AM in the Sacramento market.

Re: AM 1030 Elk Grove Granted by FCC-Calls are KEGC--Royce files objections

The Authorization is for 50KW D-Day, and 10KW D-Night... but the Night pattern linked below shows 50KW. Hmmm. or should that be "Whoops?"

The CP has calls of KEGC.

Since the CP was issued, there have been a number of filings:

So far, none of the filings appear on links so one can read them.

In an updated media interest list filed in Nov. 2010, KM reports:

KM Radio of Merced, LLC owns KBKY(FM) facility ID 78433 licensed to Merced, CA,
a number of other operating FM's,
a bunch of FM CP's in Texas,
an AM CP
and through KM Communications, Inc. a CP for 1320, Eva Beach, HI, KEWA(AM) which doesn't show in the FCC database.

Transmitter site east of Galt, 50k directional. I wonder in what direction it is geared for? I am guessing it will cover all of Sacramento up to about Chico down south to about Merced easy and up into the foothills. ???

Daytime field strength plot is here:

Nighttime plot is here:

I don't know about Chico, but I suspect it will hit Sac just fine during the day. Nighttime might be sketchy. I predict that anyone listening in Roseville will be very aware of the pattern switch.

If KM owns KBKY-94.1 in Merced, which is a brokered spanish religious station, then that should answer everyone's question as what format will 1030 be? It'll be some sort of brokered format.

Dam..So no more hearing KTWO at night then??
Is KTWO still worth listening at night? Don't they run some sort of syndicated satellite show heard on hundreds of other radio stations nationally?
