AM Frequency of The Week: 1050

What do you get on 1050?

I've gotten in Bothell
KBLE Kirkland, WA (Religious)
KORE Springfield, OR (Religious)
KTCT San Mateo, CA (Sports)
CJNB North Battleford, SK (Country)
likely KEYF Dishman, WA (Nostalgia) need to check logs

P.S.: I have been gone for quite a while because there isn't anything interesting on the AM anymore. I'm getting the same 350 stations and getting a new logging at this time of year will be almost impossible, since it will have to be on a graveyard or a split frequency.

Day: WYBG Massena NY

Night: CHUM Toronto ON (simulcasting CP24....how sad, another giant gone)
WEPN New York NY

And C'bo, there's always something out there, which can surprise you on AM. Hang in there for the long haul!

Rochester NY...

Daytime: slop from adjacent-channel local WYSL 1040, sometimes with a little CHUM underneath

Nights: an unholy mix of CHUM and WEPN

Manassas, VA,
WBQH Silver Spring, MD, very close to DC, with the Spanish regional Mexican format, the station is about 35 miles away.
At night, it's WEPN New York City with a fading, shaky signal above the mess of several unIDed stations.

1050 from Lexington, KY

Daytime:

WCVX Cincinnati, OH

Nighttime, Sunrise/Sunset and Past DX Reception:

WCVX Cincinnati, OH
CHUM Toronto, ON
WEPN New York, NY
WAMN Grass Valley, WV
WADC, Parkersburg, WV
WNES, Central City, KY
XEG Monterrey, Mex

In the LA area:

Day: nothing
Night: mess, but occasionally I get a weak KTCT 1050 from SF

Day: static
Night: KNBR amongst a mess of at least 68 other stations buried underneath.

Well said. I've visited western New York and listened at night, that is an unholy mix. If I remember correctly, over on 1010, the mixture is delightful as well, with WINS and CFRB going at it.

Here east of Columbus, CHUM dominates 1050 (but not to the extent 740 is dominated by Toronto). I've heard traces of WEPN here. Never XEG.

North Idaho:1050
KEYF Dishman (Spokane) daytime
CJNB N Battleford, SK late afternoon on, mixed with
KTCT San Mateo, CA

Far northwest suburbs of Chicago.

Day: WLIP (fair)

Night: Usually CKSB (SRC) on top....especially towards dawn. Sometimes CHUM, sometimes XEG....which used to dominate "back in the day". WLIP is also in the mix...generally getting clobbered by one of the above.

Day: barely detectable XED Mexicali with an ultralight's stock loopstick ; listenable but staticky with adjacent-channel QRM from 1040 KURS with a loop. A trace of IBOC from KNX can be heard when using a radio with poor selectivity.
Night: weak-to-moderate mix of XED and KTCT San Mateo, CA. KTCT was dominating the frequency a couple nights ago, but wasn't strong

In addition to cyberdad's and radioman's logs: WDZ Decatur, IL can be heard sometimes near sunset in the Chicago area...and I've heard WTKA Ann Arbor, MI around sunrise (winters) and before sunset. (Northeastern IL)

SW Ohio

Days
Local WCVX "Victory 1050"
If you ever travel I-75 through Cincinnati, you can see the WCVX transmitting antenna on the right, next to interstate, just before you cross the bridge into Ohio. (or on the left just after, if you are traveling south)

Sunset
WBUT - Butler PA "You're in Big Butt Country"

Nights
CHUM - With the .289KW nightime WCVX nulled.
WEPN - Same here
