AM HD TURNOFF PACE ACCELERATES

Sure, since iBiquity is worth soooo much money. And they've done soooo much for CBS.

If your personal self-interest is a factor in making company decisions, you get fired.

But you DO get to preserve your integrity, if that is an important matter in the consideration.

Unless you're an owner, no.

Same-Same.

What Means means?

C-QUAM had well over 300 AM stereo stations; still has about 85 stations 20 years later; doubt HD-AM will be able to say that. AND, Motorola charges NO fees for CQUAM like the iBiquity CostaNostra.

That Wikipedia list is suspect. I found at least three stations on there that no longer do C-Quam, like WATV, which switched it off probably 7-8 years ago. WTNI Biloxi, WRNE Pensacola and WLNO New Orleans don't give me any stereo, either.

Also, 100 pages and we still have too many AM HD stations.

I maintain that list based on what Meduci lists. If you know of stations that are off, please write them so I can include them (need 3rd party verification).

Unless I'm thinking of another AM Stereo list out there, I did write them about WRNE and WATV but it never got updated.

Those are the two that I'm most sure of because both dropped stereo when each moved to new TX sites.

I've got an amax Walkman and took it on a road trip out west and didn't log a single stereo station, and can't hear WLS in stereo, so maybe it's my radio that's bad now. But the first two I'm certain of.

The Sony SRF-42 and other Sony AM Stereo Walkmans are "forced stereo", so they will receive *everything* in stereo, even stations transmitting mono. It gives no indication if a station is transmitting the 25 Hz C-Quam pilot tone or not, which is what counts.

Hear we are on the 100th page and nearing the 1000th post on what has probably been the longest running topic on this board. Mr. Savage deserves some kind of an award or vote or something (maybe we can save the 1000th post for him).

And as someone who lives on the Central Coast of California where AM stations are more broke then I am, I can confidently say that none of them are broadcasting in HD.

Zach: WLS apparently still does stereo, according to the AMSF list. As for the 1,000th post, I wonder what it'll be! Maybe we'll see a mass turnoff of AMHD for Xmas to talk about!!!

I doubt that any station has ever made a dime operating an HD AM facility. It is just an annoyance that we all have to suffer with.

Judging from the activity on the DX board, there's a great deal more interest in DXing than there is in HD AM.

I hate to even post this as every time I do post it they turn the hash back on but WTAG 580's IBOC has been off every time I tuned past them in the past few weeks. This are only a day timer (IBOC that is) but every one that goes off is progress in my book.

The IBOC is off at 1560 WQEW today, and they increased their analog audio bandwidth up to 10 kHz. Hopefully it's permanent this time; they did the same thing earlier this year, but turned the IBOC back on after about a month.

It's still off today, the audio sounds much better.
