Go straight to the source, the FCC database, for more accurate info. In short WHNR has a bankruptcy judgement against the sole owner for 48k. Looks like he was trying to transfer the station to FSSC for $1000. Al most got away with it. But, someone noticed and screamed to the bankruptcy judge who has ordered the station assets seized and a receiver appointed for the license and assets.
High Drama in Polk County!
Dont know anything about the Mims station.

I don't mean to sound like a jerk but zzzzzzzzzzz.... Too bad :(. Anyway, I'll go back on my hunt for a turn table and DXing. Thanks for the update. No wonder why it was not posted here sooner. Not any thing of interest to a lot of us. Have a good night guys. 840 is playing some country last check a few days back. Wonder what happened over there? I thought 840 was in a whole other area. LOL. i had no idea it was in mims. When i heard the ethnic programming on 840 I thought I had another country on my radio. I was pretty amazed at first because I thought I had a killer dx. I had the iPhone ready to post but then found it was a station 30 miles away or so.

True Oldies yes! bring it to The Villages while you're at it.

Oh sure... what an original idea... "The SAME OLDIES all the time"...with great innovative thinking like that, it's no wonder that radio is becoming irrelevant, but sure, let's just recycle the same old pablum.

What I really miss in Orlando is the old WORL on 1270, playing R&B tunes with real DJ's. I spent many an evening listening to WORL on our screened porch on Lake Kathryn (near Casselberry)

True oldies ftw in my book. It's better than nothing. I'm in brandon right now and I can finally hear 106.3 without too much trouble. The radio mostly sucks in orlando except for z 88.3/hot 95.9/the rock 106.3 and sunny and the magic games but that's it. And WPRK and SBK live at times. It may be the same music at times but it's a heck of a lot better than a lot of other things.

what austen said. I'd love to have live local dj's and that but it is a format not heard here.

Did WVLG make changes to its weekend format?? I thought they did a pretty good oldies format.

You must enjoy hearing "Brown Eyed Girl" or "Surfin' USA" multiple times per day. :( you can hear those "played out" tunes anytime, anywhere, and you don't need AM radio to do it...

Back on topic... yes, the WHNR Cypress Gardens debacle looks like quite a mess, both from a legal and technical standpoint. Apparently, they are operating under STA because one of the towers fell down awhile back. They say they can't fix it right now. Reason? Alligators. ::)

And $5.9 MILLION for 1270? I can't believe any broker would take that listing. Someone is smoking their breakfast.

Actually what I was thinkin after I posted this is that WVLG covers this format well. I dont like hearing them multiple times a day, but then again I dont listen enough to hear multiple times a day either. But hey, I believe its not just the music that makes a radio station a radio station.
