For those of you who work in radio, then you know what I am about to say is true. For those of you posting on this site whose only connection to radio is listening to one, then you really don't have a clue as to the behind the scenes of radio. (And I don't say this to be mean. I'm just stating the truth.)
EVERYTHING that a radio station does IS FOR RATINGS!!! It's that plain and it's that simple!! Without ratings there is no advertising revenue!! Without advertising revenue there are no djs!! And without djs there is NO RADIO!!
That doesn't mean that the dj behind the cause isn't doing it because they feel passionate about it! Most of them truly care about the causes they champion!! But nevertheless, whatever they do brings attention to and eventually ratings for the radio station!
In answer to "why is there so much anger when discussing wiregrass radio?" Probably because right now there's not a dj in this market that hasn't been shafted by somebody else in this market and they're just getting out the angst! Another reason is probably because radio in the Wiregrass SUX right now!! Oh I long for the 80s and 90s when radio was fun!!
