There are still several weekly jazz shows scattered throughout the schedule at WMBR, hosted by knowledgeable longtime volunteer community and MIT alum jazz enthusiasts.I think they still play jazz at MIT's radio station WMBR.
IIRC, it started as Four College Radio (Amherst, Mount Holyoke, Smith and Hampshire), adding the University of Massachusetts as its fifth "college" later on.Interesting story. Reminds me of WFCR, which began as "Five College Radio," combining the resources in Amherst.
UMass was one of the original Four Colleges - and was WFCR's home base and its licenseholder for many years.
