I imagine they might roll out a night jock before mornings but that's just a guess.

I would consider it an up-and-coming alternative to standard HTML website design. Let's not forget the music videos and associated artist content added to their site.
They are using social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook. They have obviously been reading Jerry Del Colliano's columns. He has written many times that stations must get more in touch with listeners. I see this as THE station that may follow through with his suggestions.
You obviously weren't paying attention to KLSX when it was talk. The every host had their own myspace and facebook account. They shot bits such as FHF behind the mic and Danny Bonaduce Smoke/Boxing breaks that they hosted on Youtube and 971fmtalk.com. The online stream was the second most listened to for CBS Radio, right behind WFAN (about 26 million streaming minutes a week.) They had vdeo webcasts from the studio regularly, including the final Friday from 6a to 5p, which you can still see at Stickam.
If they kept the amazing web team that the old format had, then yeah, they might make great use of their web tools. But they should at least get the /wordpress out of their URL.
CBS's never intended to go head to head with KIIS-FM.4UH8SIMBKAGN said:I guess that no company should ever introduce a new product as no one would ever buy it. KIIS has Ryan Seacreast in the morning too. I don't even see AMP as a contender at this point.
AMP is new, it's hip, it's professional/major market sounding, it's playing the hits of Southern California, it's attaching some new technology to itself and they had a year already to test parts of it out... Don't underestimate the company or who is programming it. Ryan Seacrest is not the end all of morning men (?) and can be dethroned. KIIS is as vulnerable as any radio station. AMP may not topple KIIS but it's going to do damage. Once you are on top, you've only got one way go. AMP does have a better chance of competing against KIIS than any other new competitor in nearly a 1/4 of a century. If they do this station right, so far so good, it's going to be one hell of a battle in Los Angeles radio.
Two completely different eras. Personality radio with live DJ's is an endangered species. Jukeboxes with little operating costs will never topple an established station like KIIS-FM. Slim chance if any that Amp will have live jocks. If there are voices on Amp, most likely they will be VT'd. The chances of Amp toppling and overtaking KIIS-FM in the ratings will happen when hell finally freezes over, which will be never.SuperRadioFan said:4UH8SIMBKAGN said:Don't underestimate the company or who is programming it. That reminds me of Scott Shannon's "Worst to First Z100" in NYC in the 80s. Took 'em less than three months.

CHR is back in vogue since the PPM. CBS certainly has intended to go up against KIIS. Please explain why they keep mentioning KIIS on AMP? CBS is not just going CHR in Los Angeles, they're evolving their Movin' station in San Francisco closer to CHR (already listed as so by Mediabase) and New York City, among other markets, is also rumored to be going CHR. This isn't just about KLSX.Grk_ScorpioInTheMIA said:CBS's never intended to go head to head with KIIS-FM.4UH8SIMBKAGN said:I guess that no company should ever introduce a new product as no one would ever buy it. They are only going this route so they can save money, and unload the huge hefty contracts they were paying out. If music formats were their passion and focus, this move would have been done a long time ago. They could care less about beating KIIS. Its all about the $$$$$$$$$.
