AMY B OUT AT KPLX

tjenn said:
Ok, 2 things need to be corrected here. Amy B did not do her radio show from Arizona.

Pants on fire much?

I've worked there. She did do her show from Arizona. Sure she occasionally came in for meetings, appearences, client apointments etc, but those days were few and far between.

And while she's got an accent, her 'on-air' accent is MUCH more severe than normal...

I have a friend who used to work at The Ticket, and he ran into her from time to time...he says she did the show from both cities, depending on whether she was here or there, but that Arizona was home for her, and most of the time she did the show from there.
She did have a good show, but, as others have already said, the sound effects got really tiring after a while. Her on-air personality carried her well..

Tjenn,

Sorry you are wrong! I worked with her at Susq from 00 to late 03 and agian most recently 06 through her departure and she did do her show from SADONA ARIZONA STARTING IN 02 TO 07 and sometimeS when she was in town for major events she would do her show from the Mothership in DALLAS. SORRY BUT YOU ARE WRONG REGARDING AMY B. However she was very talented and should never have moved from middays.

Yup she was. There were a few times I was able to drop in the studios and watch her.

Ok, I'm going to say this one more time. I know her personally and have for the past 5 years. I know for a FACT that she did most of her radio show HERE in the DALLAS area. She was always here as she did events every week for 3 years straight. So I KNOW she was here in Dallas and did her show here in Dallas. I was always calling up the studio phone. There were times that I would help her out at events, which led me to join the "Wolf Pack". A team that did PR work. We would go set up events around the D/FW area. Sure her home is in Sedona, but she did move here to the D/fw area to DJ The Wolf. And trust me, her accent on and off the radio is the same. That's what living in Texas will do for you.

Have you worked there? Have you been in the station on a day in, day out basis for months at a time? I have.

If you were part of the wolf pack, we're you on staff? Can you tell those of us who have worked there anything that would give you any credibility whatsoever? For example, who was her producer? Where was her office located? Where is programming located in relation to the other departments?

You've got 2 people who used to work there, and one who has a friend who worked at the Ticket who all claim in the last few posts that she did her show from Sedona. And we've got you, who says she didn't because you talked to her on the studio phone? Uh huh, sure...

And while you're at it, if she did 'events' every week for 3 years straight, can you share with us what client/location it was? I've still got some contacts up there, and if 'shailey' still works there they can probably get a copy of past promotions calendars that would confirm YOUR version of things...

I know she used to come in for big stuff (wolfdance, concerts, etc) but there were MONTHS at a time when she wouldn't be seen at the station...

But hey, if you talked to her on the phone, I guess that proves she was in Dallas...because I'm sure the technology doesn't exist for you to call a Dallas number and for it to be answered some place else (/snark)

And if you're so sure she was here in Dalls full time, I invite you to read the last few pages(4-5 specifically) of the "what's wrong with country radio' thread that I just bumped...

Notice where some very experienced posters here (Steve Eberhart, Kplexcomplex, Laffer, etc) all seem to be pretty sure that she was working from Sedona...

Do you really think ALL of us are wrong?

I met with Smokey quite a few times over the past few years, and yes AMY did her show ,EXCEPT A FEW OCCASIONS( VERY FEW) from Ariz. Nice contract. If you did PR,you worked in Promotions and Promotions folks really don't have that much insight except for what they are told. They go set up,make the client happy and the talent.

It's not like it's a well-kept secret. Practically everyone in programming at every major station in DFW knows Amy's been in Sedona since what, 2002? Yes, she did come to town for big events like Wolfapalooza, Wolfdance, and a few select remotes for big clients, but other than that she was in Arizona. So what? If I could get a deal like that I'd jump at it in a heartbeat. Some folks will try to make hay out of the whole scenario but even though she wasn't local, she was at least live.

To me it's a whole lot better than certain stations (who shall remain namless) that try to pass off voice-tracked jocks from out of market as local *cough* Cindy Spicer *cough*.

Before they re-did her contract, Amy used to pull a Saturday shift every other weekend. I got to meet her a couple times. I think the first time she met me she thought I was one of the "young punks" until we got onto the subject of cueing vinyl. Her eyes lit up like a kid at Christmas. She's a sweet gal and I wish her the best.

But But But...Tjenn talked to her on the phone. And I know for a fact that you can't pick up a phone in Dallas and have it answered in Arizona. It's just not possible... ::)

apparently is was well kept to tjenn. He talked to her on the phone!!! And worked 'pr' for the wolf to boot...So really, who would know better, you who worked there (didn't you, am I connecting names and faces correctly?) or somebody who talked to her on the phone?

Depends. How goofy/bleary eyed did the face look at 4am on Saturday Mornings? ;)

Amy was live and able to record and edit phone calls from Sedona. She had a producer locally who helped get the pieces for her breaks, but often she would edit and put them together. It was a pretty sweet deal for Amy who helped pay her producer's salary.

I worked for Susquehanna and then Cumulus from 2002-2006 and was there when Amy went full-time to Arizona. At first she came in once every month or so and then it got more spread out to where she'd be in town for big events. It got to be surprising if she actually did her show from the Mothership on Maple.

Sorry, Tjenn, but as someone whose office was 30 feet from the Wolf studios, you're wrong.

Ok, yall can be idiots, but I nor anyone else would be able to remember every single event that was done. All I know is that I helped her at least 3 years straight for events that SHE went to HERE in DALLAS EVERY WEEK! I don't care what yall say. I know the truth, and that's all that matters. It's funny how when I first met her was an event back in 2002 at Jupiter Chevrolet in Garland, Texas and she told me that she missed her home of Sedona. She told me that when she could get time, she'd love to go back there. Being an artist/drawer, I offered to strike up a mural of Sedona for her. She told me that she enjoyed living in Texas but wanted to go back to Arizona so bad. Now.......I'm not making any of that up. Also, for the Promo people not to have any insight is wrong. When someone that joins has an intrest in broadcast radio, you tend to know what's going on. I remember when they were talking about Rebecca leaving and going over to KSCS. I've done work at other stations around such as KLUV.

First off Tjenn, i think you're a female. Secondly since you've interned a lot usually interns love to gossip. Give us the skinny on KSCS and KLUV.

::) I've got her Arizona home phone number and email. Want to ask her?

Okay Tjenn, whatever. But I know who "Coronaextra" is. And just to give you an insight into her knowledge of the situation, picture this: Stand in the door of the wolf studio facing out. Take a left turn head through the KLIF newsroom (on your right) and the KLIF Imaging studio (the glass wall on your left). Go through the "doorway" and look to your left. That was Coronaextras desk for 4 years. Which as she stated, was about the same time we're all "claiming" that Amy was in Arizona.

So here we have you, who can't remember the location of an event you claim Amy did every week. Balanced against Coronaextra, the Susquehanna/Cumulus employee who's desk is probably closer than anyone else in the building to the studio that you claim Amy worked in. And yet she rarely if ever saw here there.

"Coronaextra" has no reason to lie, yet you claim to know the truth. I don't think you'd know the truth if it bit you on the a**...She lived and worked from Sedona. Period. End of story.
