the golden boy said:I like Jorge Sedano a lot, but my work schedule doesn't allow me to stay up late at night to listen. Stein was listenable to me at one point when he was on FSR, but somewhere along the way, he became boring. Todd Wright, to me, is unlistenable.
I wake up at 4am everyday for work & listen to him. I heard him years ago. Jorge Sedano was someone I always thought would be a good talent. I first heard him when he was just a young kid fresh out of college doing middays on some small station in Miami you could only get in your car. I think it was 1700 on the dial. Which for me was good b/c I drive for a living. He had a partner back then named Johnny D. I used to call & tease him about how young he was. I used to call him a ,"young punk!" John Renshaw was the afternoon guy on that station. Then he went to 940 in Miami & did afternoons. That's where he became real good. He was doing the show solo & got under the skin of a lot of the old radio guys in town. He did some thing called RAPID FIRE where he would let people call in for a few seconds at a time. It lasted 2 or 3 minutes & people would just say anything they wanted to anonymously. It was a FSR station & he started doing weekends at FSR while he used to do the show in Miami. I think it's kind of cool that I heard him from the begining & can see how good he's gotten over the years. I don't think enough young talent gets cultivated in sports radio anymore. Here's a good example of that working.
He also got me to buy XM so I can listen to Czaben too when I'm driving around in the morning. Best thing that ever happend to me. Czabe is arguably one of the best talents i've ever heard. Before i got XM I had only heard Czabe a few times years ago filling in for Romey. I thought he was good, but listening to him everyday is completely different. He's hysterical. I love Czabe's website too. The guy is truly a genius.
I think the shows on FSR overall are pretty good. Some I listen to occasionally, some not at all. Though, w/ XM at least I can switch around between the networks & can listen to my local too. I like Cowherd on ESPN, that's about it. I think Cowherd is fantastic b/c like Czabe & Sedano he thinks out of the box. I think when it comes to college football there's no one better than Colin Cowherd. JT is cool too, but I'm rarely up to listen to more than just an hour these days.
