They should put a simulcast on one of those frequencies. Couldn't they put a big signal on that translator?

Of all those frequencies, maybe 107.9 would work....oops...WEBE in Connecticut.
WDHA gets out pretty good off the hill in Morris County. I used to be able to pull them well in the Northern Trenton suburbs. Remember, this is a Class A station. If you really want to hear them near NYC, stream them.
MedianJ, could you please refresh our memory why Walter is no longer the consultant at NJ101.5, I mean if Walter was so good, why would they let him go?

Apropos of this discussion, a set of data points crossed my mind...
- In Press's words, G-Rock's format changed because alternative rock listeners don't fill out diaries.
- Press flipped G-Rock to Hit106, presumably because hit radio listeners *do* fill out diaries.
- Hit106's (perfectly reported) ratings have not yet matched G-Rock's (underreported) ratings.
Interesting, hm? Not only have the ratings not gone up, Press's arguments would suggest that Hit106 is doing even worse than the ratings indicate, because the hit radio listeners are just filling out those diaries like crazy, and the numbers are still coming up short.
Seems to me the real problem was a whiny sales staff at G-Rock that weren't committed to doing the job they were hired to do.
Which, by the way, is the answer to anyone who demands that Press "bring back G-Rock". That answer is, "No. They don't deserve to. Let 'em keep playing what the sales staff thinks they can sell." Besides, I find them to be the most listenable of the hit outlets in the market. There's a lot of talent at that station.
Meanwhile, a whole cadre of active-rock-philic former G-Rock listeners tuned to The Rat and suddenly learned how to fill out diaries, giving it a nice bump in this book. I suspect fans of the other facets of G-Rock's format wheel have similarly gravitated to other grateful frequency stewards. 90.5 The Night, Shore Alternative, The Rat and yours truly's Altrok 90.5 HD2 will be happy to share the preset panel and continue to entertain those nonexistent alternative listeners.

That won't happen. The multi-plex was country on 107.1. Since it went away, the stations are staying away. 106.3/106.5 won't go country for the same reason and the competition on the .5 south side. Country is a viable format all over the country. The New York umbrella is a different animal. I had the idea of putting a Cracker Barrel restaurant in Mid-town Manhattan. Maybe right at Empire. It was one of those jokey things - like an all-sports radio station.

DHA could potentially do 94.1 or 95.9 and 107.9 if they were to just cover Northwestern NJ Sussex Passaic and Maybe parts of Bergen they'd be fine. 94.1 they'd do ok with too. 95.9 theres no problem with that. what about 99.9 as long as it won't bleed into Z100. or 98.3?

95.9 has adjacent 96.1.
99.9 same problem. Too close for 98.3 co-channel WMGQ.
I doubt there is a more short-spaced area than New Jersey. Anybody goes off the air, there is another signal or two underneath. My favorite times are NYC blackouts. Philly stations in Manhattan.

99.9 & 96.1 have co-channel close by just over the Pa. border.
Since Z-100 is licensed to Newark, I think any station close in frequency loses about 10 miles of short-spacing to the west.
Somebody can confirm that one.
