And now, I am going to blow your mind.

Sam, this is a pretty big deal that will probably get you a lot of attention from the other media outlets in town. I'm assuming that you're getting some press release materials together in time to announce this to the Inquirer, Daily News, KYW, etc.?

Dear Sam,

I think it is a disgrace that you are "baiting" people with your broadcast tapes. Your father is a legend in Philadelphia and National Radio. You are NOT Hy Lit!!!. It seems to me (according to your Profile), you are working for your father. Go out and make a name for yourself, stop riding on the coat-tails of Dad.

Play the tapes or don't play them, stop wasting people's time.

Sincerely,

Stuart Greenberg "HYSKI...(not son) A RADIO LEGEND!!!"

;D I keep telling myself I'm not the "Big Ape" but when I look in the mirror...Sheesh!! Can you get me some of that help........Mighty 690!

Sam, don't let this BOZO, bother you with his inept comments. Your work, along with Hy's, is legengary with people in the know. Keep up the good streamming!!

Dear CHJ1950,

Thank you very much for your comment. I do not want this to drag on, However, I cannot respect an opinion of someone who does not use their real name.

Sam,
In an odd sort of way, I did not mean any disrespect. I cannot take back what I said, only offer an apology.
I am sorry for the comment.

Hy,
In know way am I denigrating your interests. As a matter of fact, I have grown up listening to you on WFIL, WSNI, WOGL, and various other stations. I also have met you many times, at various radio promotions and The Woodbine Inn. Whenever I would visit my parents, I would always listen to the station you were on. It was my Father (Murray), who graduated West Philadelphia High School with you, who first told me about your illness. At that time, I sent you a "get well" E-Mail.

Once again, I am sorry for offending.

Stuart Greenberg

Well, this got off to a pretty bad start. If you folks are okay with it, I'd like to compile a short list of links and start a new discussion thread regarding the end of WIBG 30 years ago. Maybe the next one will focus more on the station and it's impact on rock-and-roll radio, rather than on Hy's business or health.

So, I'm soliciting links and stories. Does anyone have anything good?

The fact is Hy Lit the legendary DJ has become "Hy Lit" the brand name. And who better than Sam Lit to champion and promote his dad and his interests?! It was Sam Lit that produced and engineered Hy's final week at Wibbage thirty years ago, it's Sam Lit's vision and technical know-how that's given us HyLitRadio.com and its other incarnations, it was Hy and Sam years ago at WKXW, Trenton. And to borrow a thought from the old Patty Duke show, they look alike and they talk alike. What father doesn't dream of having the kind of devotion and relationship with his son that Hy Lit has with his son Sam?

Sam Lit has done a magnificent job maintaining and promoting the legacy of his father, with HyLitRadio.com re-creating an era in radio that will likely never ever be repeated, except on the internet by people like Hy and Sam Lit.

Hy, congratulations on the thirtieth anniversary of your last broadcast on WIBG. As George Benson on that Saturday, September the 10th, 1977, proclaimed, "...you are the best". (By the way, George Benson's final show on WIBG that Saturday morning ended with George playing Cherish, by the Association, imploring us listeners to "remember and cherish Wibbage". George was working for WPEN at the time and his show was followed by Hy's final show.)

Sam, you're doing a fantastic job reminding us how it was when radio mattered.
