Majic, I was being flip (impudent, smart-mouthed, kidding) when I made the comment about Roger Christian on a hip-hop station. It was a joke. After all, Roger has survived every OTHER format on 102.5 for the last 30 years.
Sorry that you missed the humor. And missed the humor when I SAID that it was humor.
Now, here's a serious statement: I think that flipping Star to hip-hop would alienate the existing audience, and be too big a reach for them.
Star is designed to go after 35-49 females, where WJYE is the king (queen?). Kiss is designed to go after the 25-34 females, while still grabbing most of the 18-24 females. We now have a problem where Kiss is getting more 35-44 females than it's supposed to, which hurts Star. So, Entercom needs to decide who goes after what, and program accordingly.
I guess guys are supposed to listen to The Edge or their iPods.
