And you were saying what about XM backing O and A?

Exactly Zach, he's smart! You can say he's not as edgy as O and A etc but then again O and A have not been edgy for a long time, they do no bits they just shoot the BS which is not edgy or even compelling. Howard does not HAVE to do that but then again he never really pulled stunts to try to get his name in the papers like O and A have doen pretty masterfully in the past. Mel and Howard are close but then again so were Opie and Anthony and Eric Logan at XM, you cant place the blame on XM or CBS, you have to bbe relaistic and honest. O and A blew it again becuas ethey are not smart enough or professional enough to handle the positions they've been put it.

So, setting up a rolling porno booth in Times Square is not what you would call somewhat controversial? OK, the guise was he was promoting his own channel in that truck, but seriously, there was controversy.

However, TowerBuzz, I do concede that of course during talks of negotiation with XM about merging that Mel does have considerable clout. What I'm wondering is, doesn't that make him somewhat of a hypocrite?

And as far as your (or someone's) suggestion that he and Howard are tight, I'd say you must be on the money. So I can see where maybe he's protecting his greatest asset by getting rid of the competition? Not to mention Howard's arch-rivals at that.

And now for your listening pleasure here's a very special dedication to all the lovely people that couldn't wait to see O & A fired: Please join me in listening to "Your Breaking My Heart" by Harry Nilsson! Its on the "Son of Schmilsson LP and it quite entertaining and points to the fact that a lot of people need to get a life!

I dont think it is that devious since they're really not much compeition for Howie. His subscription numbers are literally hundreds of thousands more than theirs are. Arch rivals maybe sure but competition they really are not. You are right though the rolling porno booth was of course a controversial stunt that did not go well supposedly. They were not allowed to park in Times sq where they said they would be because the trades said they were shooed away by managers of Time Sq business's who are trying to be family friendly. They got the cops to move the bus and it never touched down anywhere where his fans could link up with it it just drove around. So there was a Hwoard stunt that backfired but nothing like this wont you agree?. I hope they come out of it although the persistent rumor is that they are finished at XM. The smartest thing they did today was to not go off on Xm as a company and bury themselves by saying something actionable. Assume they had no say in that though they had to have been told by cbs brass that they say nothing about XM and their suspension.

In essence, what you are saying is: Howard knows exactly where to draw the line? And perhaps those less experienced or too driven for notoriety cross over that line. Fair enough.

So do you think this exemplifies exactly what it means to be a successful personality? That most guys don't got it just because they don't have the right personality? Perhaps even trying to be something they're really not just for the spotlight?

Oh and for the other poster above about lives and such... many of us have lives, sir. This is merely our hobby in that life. But I see where you're coming from. If I were at home with my family rather than in wretched Korea I would not be posting nearly as often, if ever.

I like O&A, but I think the efforts of their hard core fans will prove to be counter productive. They’re making a bad situation worse by hurting the very company willing to air “anything goes” talk.

It’s likely that the boys will be fired if they appear to be encouraging their listeners to cancel XM subscriptions. The smart move would be for them to call for an end to this nonsense and support their employer.

I'd like for them to have a job to come back to.
