I just wish Jed would spend some money marketing this show and station, my own cousin that lives in Patchogue Long Island heard of Party 105 but did not know Vic was on the air and as a matter of fact he did not even call it WDRE he called it WXXP.
You are right on target about the marketing. I have turned on dozens of people to Pary105 in its listening area, who had no idea the station even existed. As far as call letters go, thats not a concern where the calls are not part of the stations imaging or identity. Its not like CBS-FM for example where the calls ARE the identity. This station is Party 105.
Well it's a fact that TMO and it predecessor have juggled their stations' calls for several years now.
I'm not surprised people confuse them.
WLIR-92.7
WLIR-98.5
WLIR-107.1
but wait...there's more....
WDRE 92.7
WDRE 105.3
WDRE 103.9 (Philadelphia)
and more....
WXXP (Pittsburgh)
WXXP 105.3
....and I'm sure there's more....
Let's not forget WBON (98.5 The Bone) and, I believe, WXXY (107.1 Hampton Bays). Did they also ever use the WLRI calls? I think 98.5 was WDRE for a while as well.
