Wonder what is happening over there. Andre, who was a fixture in that company forever, was let go.

The powers that be at TMO don't do a single thing to make the stations successful so they fail and when they fail god-forbid they blame their "execs" so someone has to be the scape-goat and take the fall.

You'd think by know they would realize that if no one can make them succeed then maybe the problem isn't the staff.

btw I'm pretty sure if any of the TMO management reads this board I'm pretty sure after reading MarcB's post a light bulb went on over their head as they thought " another ESPN relay, now that something we should look into, if it fails I'm sure we can find someone to let go".

Terrible news. The guy has been hanging in there since the glory days of 92.7 WLIR and was also a driving force at Party before and after that "channel-casting" debacle.

But with all his years with the infamous TMO, he should pen a insider's, tell-all book on his experience. :D (I think everyone in the NY and LI market would read it...I know I would!)

I've been waiting for this shoe to drop. Andre has been running the show for many years, IIRC was let go during the channel casting disaster, and then brought back. With Vic Latino running things, I always felt Andre's days were numbered. I don't know if he was released or left of his own accord, but TMO didn't deserve such loyalty. Andre, best of luck to you and I hope to hear you on the air again soon.

Maybe, it made more sense to elminate his position/salary, and put in a kid for peanuts. When their grand prize in a promotion is $5,000 worth of advertising, that doesn't indicate business is booming over at Party.

16 years with the same company. Pretty amazing!

Andre then:

According to Tom Taylor's daily newsletter:

On Long Island – the Party has suddenly stopped for seven-year PD Andre Ferro. He’s been the programmer there for Jarad since 2001 and is at [email protected], he tells Radio-Info.com

TOTALLY AGREE!!!

isn't it funny how they've been hyping their stations for several months now and still have next to none advertising that is counting TMO/Vic Latino owned business'. Pulse 87 has been on air for a couple of months and a have two 4 minute stop sets.

What was Andre's position at Party??

Afternoons and PD but i can't help but wonder was that PD title just a title since Vic came into town? perhaps that is why he was let go. Vic was already probably calling the shots and again why pay him a PD/afternoon salary when they can pay 2 peanuts and a remote here and there to some kid.

Doesnt this thread smell of what I have been saying all along. It really is a shame. The TMO reputation precedes them. They have no clue what they have their hands on. As for Andre, good luck! TMO sounds very much like the movie "Rookie of the Year". 12 year old Kid plays in little league, breaks his arm, pitches in the big leagues for the Chicago Cubs but the fame and fortune are too much to handle. While money hungry Jack, the kids mothers boyfriend, pulls strings behind the scenes to line his own pockets. And you are absolutely right PSA. Pulse does sound very impressive in many ways. Imaging is very good. Very lively on-air personalities, Good music line up and yes decent stop sets. Even their website, although much of it is still under construction, is pretty decent, certainly not a mary jane template. And the many comments from LONG ISLAND listeners on their website. Pulse looks like it could certainly add to the mix on the Island.

Maybe Andre will move over to Pulse87, he would certainly be a great asset to Pulse. Back when Andre was the only PD at Party 105, the station was 95% dance with very little hip hop. They did fire Andre when Party started "channel-casting" but he came back when that experiment failed.

Shame to hear about Andre - really good guy and a a true professional. I'm sure he'll land somewhere better. A major loss for TMO.

If you want to hear Andre 24/7, buy a copy of Grand Theft Auto 3. He's "Andre the Accellerator" on Rise FM. Even sounds killer on a video game.

To say that I am angry about this is the BIGGEST UNDERSTATEMENT of the year!!!! I am FUMING!!!

When NO ONE else thought about dance music in this region or didn't know (or based on corporate politics) how the hell to do one, that little tiny station out in Ronkonkoma with a small signal was the "little engine that could!" And Andre was that man that knew what to do! With the exceptions of that hip-hop phase just before the other nightmare..."channelcast", a lot of GOOD dance music was broken out on that station...material that 'KTU would never touch (and seemingly in some cases Pulse 87 isn't touching).

If the departure was about "change".....what else needs to be done to Party 105 that hasn't been dealt with already? There is more R&B and hip-hop and less dance. Are we going towards that direction now?? I really want to know what the hell is going on! 16 years!!! WOW!!!! Now THAT is dedication. And Andre, you'll get a job soon. As long as dance music is starting to get more recognition...slowly but surely...some company out there would be foolish NOT to snatch you up to run a rhythmic station.

Makes me wonder.....politics????
