I tried to give a listen but the continuous "welcome Ankarlo to Phoenix" spiel grew tired real quickly... ...help Ankarlo buy a house, tell him about the neighborhoods, all the lovey dubbey chit chat welcome to Phoenix, etc...
All I could think was:
* Is Phoenix that much of a hick market that a grandiose production has to be made over importing somebody from Texas (who's been a career traveler) when there is an abundance of media professionals here in the Valley, some of which would love to get a chance and may actually have prospects to be an insightful and informative host, minus all the butt kissing and sucking up.
* Even though all knew ahead of time about the AM/FM split (now that 620 AM is sports talk), FM is on a different band in my car and thus, it's an effort to tune in to KTAR 92.3 FM.
* I don't understand what they're trying to do at KTAR FM... ...how is the hiring of bland toaster-talk company jocks going to net any listeners. Inconveivable that they trail in ratings to the other big talk station in the valley that is mostly inhabited by misanthropic, eliminationist hate rhetoric preaching...
