I don't have a horse in the race, but this could be a modern day version of the tortoise (KTAR) and the hare (KFYI). KFYI better watch out. Talk stations on FM tend to automatically attract 25-54s. If KFYI isn't careful, it'll lose--if it hasn't already--the coveted younger demo and become the old men in their underwear station. (Before you scoff at this...didn't KFYI take away what the mighty heritage KTAR once had?). I'm also not an Ankarlo fan, but...he caused--and causes--talk. All that TV and print buzz gets people to tune in. And costs KTAR nothing. Maybe it won't happen overnight, but unless the hare gets aggressive again and stops coasting, KTAR could surprise it one of these days at the finish line.

HA! Never a big Denny Green fan (not as a head coach, anyway), but that rant bumped him up a notch, for me.

I miss the days when speculation was rampant about who was hiding behind what screen name, and who worked for who, etc. When people were challenged to prove that they really were who they said they were (CROWN 'EM!...sorry...that was such a great meltdown, though).

I think I know who the Doctor is. And a couple of others. I guess all the hip-hop station kiddies have moved on. They're the ones that used to get really excited about that stuff.

In the words of the immortal Buddy Ryan, "..well, you've got a winner in town.." Speakin' of weiners, how many more days can Aunt Carlos and KT'R milk the ASU bus story? The Nurse and I have counted eight days as of 4/18 and have come to the conclusion there aint no there in their self serving promotion any more. This is more watered down than the soup at an all you can eat buffett. Time for the Master Blogger to invent another crisis to bolster the ratings of the Number 1 Number 2 news and talk station.

KNIX is paying boo-co bucks for commercials on TV while KTAR has led the news reports on TV and in the papers for two solid weeks.

Brilliant.

Yet, strangely, KTAR is still substantially behind in the ratings after 1) spending untold tens of millions of dollars to transition a heritage station to FM, 2) going to a "more hip" (but ever changing lineup) and 3) creating stories and a "buzz" about themselves which doesn't really exist--especially surrounding a story about being banned from buses on a campus where no one would be listening to them anyway--considering no one under 50 bothers with KTAR even on FM.

Ratings ratings ratings, checking the scoreboard KFYI's got 'em, KTAR doesn't.

One other thing of note: What does it say about the news credibility of KTAR when they try to make themselves the story, even going so far as to use their own website and on-air newscasts to generate publicity about themselves? How are we to trust other stories they cover when they participate in these types of shenanigans?

As for Ankarlo, once again the ratings speak for themselves, The Barely Famous Nearly Young and the pilled out one trounce him, so naturally he's going to grasp at straws to try and get somewhere. What a disaster, I feel sad for our business.
