Annalisa leaves WXRV for Chicago

I wonder if she is actually relocating or will be doing it remotely.

5 years at XRV is a long time these days.... they had a revolving door there for a while.

This is probably her last stop in the radio business, she has to be in the 55 to dead demographic

This is probably her last stop in the radio business, she has to be in the 55 to dead demographic

She began her career in 1985 at WAAF in Boston

I'm 58 and graduated from college in June 86, so this has to make her about my age, probably a little higher.

Does ageism exist in the radio industry? I imagine it must to some extent, especially more these days where there is also some type of online video streaming or public interaction. Can't have us 60 year old old-farts playing current tunes to 18 year olds, it just wouldn't be "cool" now, I would think.

On the other hand if you're nothing but a voice (e.g. "you have a face for radio") and not interacting with the public in any other fashion nobody really knows how old you are.

A few things:
-The jocks typically refer to the station as 93XRT, so it would be rare to hear Annalisa refer to the station as WXRT, when she's on the air.
-'XRT has been doing a Rock/AAA/AOR/Progressive format part-time beginning in 1972, which turned into a full-time rock format in 1976.
-Most of the full-timers at XRT have each been there 30-40 years, if not more. They are all seasoned pros. Therefore, many of their voices are like family to its listeners.
-With her past experience, Annalisa should fit in perfectly.
-It has not been announced yet what shift Annalisa will have, but just recently, their morning guy (Richard Milne) has resigned from the morning show, to take care of his wife who is currently sick.
-Years ago, Terri Hemmert made Chicago radio history by becoming the first female morning radio show host in Chicago, on WXRT. Will Annalisa get the morning show time slot? We'll find out June 13th.
-For decades, WXRT was excellently programmed by ex WBCN PD Norm Winer. Even though 93XRT still plays rock, times have changed, and the station has been through a few ownership changes. Unfortunately, from a long-time listener point of view, the station hasn't been the same since Norm left.

Woah Annalisa I remember her for the time she was at KFOG San Francisco doing a show for the outlet in the 2000's. She left the Bay Area in 2017 to get a stint in Boston recently.
