ANNUAL REPLAY OF `IT'

I got the list. Thanks much for your help. You're right, they are changing the order somewhat, but it is still a GREAT program. Thanks again

I think the order in past years had to do with the billboard release date as a single until the end of 1989 then starting with 1990 they put them in order of peak position which is why you got repeats in 1990 from 1989 don't know how they're doing it this year since it's out of order may be they'll do the 90s right this year based on radio and records or media base. they did the 90s according to billboard which is why you had all that country and rap before!

I make a guess that IT will play over 16,000 tunes in their 840 hours. I can't turn it off! Where can we get a list of the tunes played? Does XM plan to publish it. I'd love to get the song listing. Lee Abrams and his group had to spend hours and hours getting this ready.

I have the list from the past 2 IT's that were featured on XM in the exact order it was played. The only difference is the latest IT that's being featured now is ......that within the weeks time frame of a certain year, the songs were mixed up in a different order so it won't be as predictable as from the 2 previous list that I have.
I can copy and link the lists...but I don't know if the moderator or the RIAA will come down on me since XM can no longer print the current one.

I'd love to have a list too...Why would the RIAA care if the list is published after IT is broadcast?
I found a list of no longer valid links for lists by decade. It appears they were published in 2004...by any miracle, did anyone download these documents & save them?

I have last years that feature the 30's to the week of 2006 that was featured in PDF.

why is the 80s channel screwing it up so bad?

ok i can handle candi's count down starting with 9 years and change til "we hand it over to the 90s", i can even handle some of the repeats such as you coulda been with me by shena easton and the beattles medleys but how dare they play say say say twice in one hour! actually twice in 25 minutes! come on candi wake up!

The Sheena Easton was simply a mistake, they played the wrong song. They should have played When He Shines instead of the repeat. Then, they played the wrong song two other times (at least when I cared to notice). For 1983, they played T'Pau's Heart & Soul instead of Huey Lewis & The News. Also, instead of Stars on 45's Stevie Wonder Medley AKA "medley III", they played Stars on 45, Medley AKA "Beatles medley for a second time. Clearly, someone didn't double-check the playlist before hitting start.

The topper of mistakes is when they said that in January 1978 "We Are The World" was recorded. The concept of the show is great just they need a better production manager.

Now that I think about, Say Say Say being played twice is yet another case of the wrong song on the playlist. They should have played So Bad by Paul McCartney instead of the second airing of Say Say Say. Either they have some bad song IDs which is possible or they put the wrong song on the playlist.

80s IT has been a big dissapointment.

If it made the billboard top 40 it gets played on "it."

No, It doesn't for the 80's. I'm give you 10 examples from 1983 (when I tracked some of the show): "Memory"/Barry Manilow, "Bad Boy"/Ray Parker, Jr., "We've Got Tonight"/Kenny Rogers & Sheena Easton, "I Knew You When"/Linda Ronstadt, "The Clapping Song"/Pia Zadora, "Automatic Man"/Michael Sembello, "Spice Of Life"/Manhattans, "Miracles"/Stacy Lattisaw, "Lady Love Me"/George Benson, "How Many Times Can We Say Goodbye"/Dionne Warwick & Luther Vandross, "I Couldn't Say No"/Robert Ellis Orral with Carlene Carter. This is not all the Top 40 misses from that year.

I'm sure other years in this decade will have as many holes.

Now, there's some "subjective" judgement used in playing non-Top 40 tracks which I will not go into. They may go back and play some of "the missing songs" at the end of the 80's like Bruce Kelly did in the past. However, I think it's doubtful this time.

I think that they have college kids record songs and title them, because many ARE wrong, mostly from the 80's - and they don't go back and fix them, even after you tell them.

One I've noticed is "I'm Alive" by Neil Diamond - not even close to the single released with that name - they took a wrong cut off of that album/CD and gave it the LP/single title - I've told them twice now, and they don't ever fix it. They need somebody at the 80's channel who actually listened to the radio in the 80's to hear what it really sounded like and do it right, with all the correctly-titled songs.

Anybody who works at the 80's on XM should be able to recite AT40 forwards and backwards (70's too) - but 70's "IT" had almost no mistakes.

I agree with you about John Clay - he does take his job seriously at XM channel 7 and gives it his best. He is very good about replying to listener inquiries as well. I wish all the channels had someone at the helm like him - including Special X !!

They are playing Sweet Sensation - "Hooked on You". I bet they'll love getting the first 5 cent royalty check they've seen in years! :D
