Another AMPer hits the bricks

More than this AMPer hit the bricks, try the stations in South Bend owned by this company. Seems they let people go last week, again no notice was given..wonderful people, I guess Bernie was right, they must have no conscience to do that to people's lives.

The more I hear about how this company operates, the more I become convinced that the upper management there company are truly cracked. :p

Gavin's off WAZY? Wow! Granted, the morning show on Z has never done it for me so to speak, but Gavin wasn't, in the least, a horrible talent and, IMO, was the glue that held this recent incarnation of the show together. Stupid move on AMP's part.

So...what's to become of the WAZY Wake-up Crew? Afterall, you have to have more than just Stephanie in order for it to be a "crew." Kidd Kraddick off the bird, perhaps?

maybe Rick Dees or Kid Kelly...or Kid Kraddick...there actually are some decent morning options for WAZY that would allow them to focus on the rest of the day...oh wait a minute...i am trying once again to make sense at an AMP operation..silly me.

Gavin was there for a quite a while...longer than most...must have some thick skin!

Hope ya land on your feet!

So what..Steph and Mike Warner are the two employees in Lafayette?

Actually, add Scotty Blades (afternoons/nights on WAZY) and Steve Clark (The Rocket) to the list of on-air staffers at AMP Lafayette. They actually still have quite a few jocks there. Too bad they're spread across 3 stations.

I am still waiting on someone to explain the thinking behind AMP. What do you get, besides smaller salaries, when you fire those who are doing a good job for your station(s) & company? I am nearly convinced that AMP is from another planet AND NOT from a progressive one, where intelligent thinking is cherished and appreciated.

Re: Another AMPer hits the bricks--WAZY Names Dan Baisden PD

Hello:

Why can I not modify my own posts? It seems as if I can, but, ONLY for a few moments after my original post. Thanks for any help on this.

Anyway, I just saw this on AllAccess.com:

WAZY Names Dan Baisden PD

What does anyone know about this poor guy? I only hope he knows what is in store for him...no support from management, especially from Art. And, if he actually does well, from what everyone is saying, that will be his ticket to the EXIT sign!

Good luck, Dan!!!

Who got the door in ND land?

according to Radio and Records

Baisden worked as PD of WQHY/Prestonsburg, Ky. and has also worked at WDOC/Prestonburg and WGTK/Louisville.

I don't think WAZY's failures or successes lie with the talent anyway. The station has been around forever as the heritage Top 40.
Only over the last few years has B-102-9 with a music-intensive format done an "Emperor's New Clothes" number on WAZY.
You could have a trained monkey doing the morning show on WAZY and it will get essentially the same ratings. It's just that everyone was getting so comfortable with the current monkey that makes it so sad apparently.
They have some major growing pains to deal with: go mostly music off the dish, save money, and compete with B-102-9, or make a commitment to have live talent on every shift and pay them.
Gee, what's everyone else doing in the Lafayette market?

Art put an end to that....Its been so long (except for one spike) since WAZY has been on top.

AMP had the "grand vision" to kill Z95 and all its heritage with that crap ass Bright AC bird....

IMO- WAZY has NO HERITAGE! It was killed long ago....as evidence by an out of town shoot in signal kicking their ass (who cares if they were music intensive or played fart noises 24/7)

I dont know how welltraned the monkeys are at 965 but I agree and the same ting goes for b1029, without any questions. I just start to wonder if its a question of chicken and egg or cause and affect. Is the staff at AMP horrible because of the situation theyre in or is their situation the result? they need too heed and put that in their pipes.

Monkeys, staff changes, etc.

For better or for worse, most people will say "WAZY is the 50K watt Top 40 radio station in Lafayette Indiana".

Not debating whether they are doing well or not (or evaluating AMP's style of management ad nauseum because there are enough entries for that stuff), but I'm saying they have their hands full ever trying to make a MAJOR change for that frequency. It would take literally YEARS to make people think of Z-96/Z-96-5 as anything else but what it's been known as since the 80's.

LET ME SEE THE ONES IN ND LAND WOULD BE THE BUSINESS MANAGER AND SOME POOR GUY THEY JUST HIRED FROM OHIO, ONLY THERE 3 WEEKS, MOVED OUT HERE AND THEN LET GO....THEIR SLOGAN SHOULD BE"HERE TODAY GONE TOMORROW" ALSO HEARD THE UPPER MANAGEMENT GOT PAY CUTS, HOW MUCH CAN YOU CUT?

After hearing so much about the money problems at AMP over the years, it's made me think. Why don't they just sell off their worst performing stations to compensate for the money troubles? Isn't that what every other radio company does when money is tight? I'm sure Fort Wayne, for instance, would fair much better under different ownership that actually had the funds to make 'BTU great again as well as try to find a better niche for 106.3. I know AMP thinks of themselves more as an investment firm than a radio company, but the Fort Wayne properties really don't seem like they're giving them much of a return.

You KNOW that? says who? A lot of the nay sayers of AMP are really eager to feel they know the mind set of the company and what there motives are but its just plain simple that they dont. Unless your involved actively in amp I wouldnt go assuming you know what they do or dont think. Its plenty easy to moan and attack and say taht AMP is an evil organization but you cant just lump all there actions past and present together and paint with the same stick all the time. take it to heart.

Who's attacking? Art Angotti is an investment banker and Artistic Media Partners, Inc. is ran by a group of investors who put money into the stations hoping for a return. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that, and that's how several stations operate. No knocking there.

Unlike many others on this board, I have no hard feelings toward AMP. I've never worked for the Angottis, therefore, I don't have any first hand stories of how wonderful, how evil, or how sucky they are. Ask those who presently work for them or have worked for AMP in the past to find that one out. I can say this, though, there's NOT A SINGLE PERSON who I have ever met that has worked for AMP in the past that has anything positive to say about them. From the horror stories that people both on and off this board have told me, I really wouldn't want to unless it was a really nice opportunity with a contract in my favor if they ever decided to let me go.

Apollo is right on the money. You don't move Purdue sports to a weaker-performing property like WLFF (and less wattage/signal?) unless it's to balance out your investments.

It CAN'T be based on ratings, right?
