Dixie Jock said:I'm guessing by some of the lame suggestions and ideas that I read on this board that most of the posters have never been in radio, in a radio station. The "rotating cart" is a fact. These days we don't use real "carts," it's all digtal. Boortz and Royal are smart enough not to use any bumber by choice that would be over the line in a sensitive matter like the Virginia Tech shootings.
Why does everyone keep missing the point? Nobody is claiming any 'conspiracies' to 'cover-up' for any misdeeds. Isn't it pretty obvious what happened here?
Yes, I know every station has a 'rotating cart'. I also know every station has an 'open mic' , and if you leave one open when a pornstar is swearing, you get fired. The Boortz show has 5 million listeners. It's a second tier syndicated show! That's when it's time to sweat the 'small stuff'.
It's pretty clear that Royal just punched the rotator, okay? And a song appeared that should not have been there at that time! I just feel a little embarrassed for Boortz in his defense, just like watching Imus supine himself before the right 'reverends'. They are both a little gross, and it is an insult to the intelligence of anyone who's ever punched a button to hear the lame excuse.
Now personally, I like the insensitive bumpers. Just dont 'explain' what happened, ignore the NYT.
