Another Good Channel Gone!

BBC America states at the top of the forum: "We realize this may not be a typical move for the channel, but "Dancing with the Stars" is actually closer to the BBC family than you might think. "Dancing with the Stars" is produced by BBC Worldwide America and is based on the BBC hit show "Strictly Come Dancing."

I think that more than anything else, it's a weak way of saying "look, we can't afford to import Strictly Come Dancing", so here's the cheaper, sexier version". That's been a real pain in my ass. A few years ago, I loved the channel for airing a lot of British shows that I haven't seen before, even on PBS. I'm not surprised at all by the reaction to this on the message board over there. Just about every network I ever loved has completely gone to hell in the last few years. It's all because of money. I loved cable for its variety, but no channel is what they say it is anymore.

Well, fortunately, I have plenty of DVDs and yes, ancient, yet still workable VHSs to keep me busy. And, when everything goes digital in a year or so, I can FINALLY watch some of the best TV that Canada has to offer for at least two years (they go digital in '11, I believe).

Face it, the TV of the future is YouTube. At least you still have a choice of what you want to watch!

That's a pretty grim future. I'd rather get a good TV signal than watch a show in a little box on a computer screen with poor audio and pixelated images.

Wait a few years or less -- chances are that you'll watch Youtube on your living room, kitchen or bathroom TV, with the same clarity as aerial or cable cahnnels now.
