BBC America states at the top of the forum: "We realize this may not be a typical move for the channel, but "Dancing with the Stars" is actually closer to the BBC family than you might think. "Dancing with the Stars" is produced by BBC Worldwide America and is based on the BBC hit show "Strictly Come Dancing."
I think that more than anything else, it's a weak way of saying "look, we can't afford to import Strictly Come Dancing", so here's the cheaper, sexier version". That's been a real pain in my ass. A few years ago, I loved the channel for airing a lot of British shows that I haven't seen before, even on PBS. I'm not surprised at all by the reaction to this on the message board over there. Just about every network I ever loved has completely gone to hell in the last few years. It's all because of money. I loved cable for its variety, but no channel is what they say it is anymore.
Well, fortunately, I have plenty of DVDs and yes, ancient, yet still workable VHSs to keep me busy. And, when everything goes digital in a year or so, I can FINALLY watch some of the best TV that Canada has to offer for at least two years (they go digital in '11, I believe).
