Another music tweak at KTFM......

I lost interest in KTFM ever since they let go Rick the Stick and Hot Henrietta.

nothing personal against either of them but...

that is exactly the problem with the tainted calls

people (well radio industry folks affiliated with it past or present rather) want to hang onto the old days when the reality is... they are gone and will never return.

nothing against woody... but it is the same situation

1989 was 20 years ago people

if it were up to me... i would kill any allifiation with ex staff, ex local staff, old logos, everything and all cut all ties

Has anyone ever noticed the lack of personaliy both KTFM and Jack have? Both stations, the only sweepers I hear are 'The New 94.1, KTFM' or 'Jack-FM'. How about some freaking creative? The jocks on 94.1 step all over intros to 'say' nothing (other than hear themselves talk and give out the phone number). It sounds as both of the stations are just running on auto-pilot. Minimal talent, minimal production, and no 'stationality' - just plain boring, even if the music may be the right 'mix'.

Mix 96.1 sounds right-on, and even if it may be half voice tracked at least it sounds like the talent did their homework. And for me, I'll take KBPA over Jack anyday.

So you want a jock to be personality? You mean CONTENT? Relevence? An emotional Connection with the listener? ugh, I think you'll need to pay more than 8 bucks an hour. Duh?

Pretty soon radio will have little revenue coming in because the station does not CONNECT with the city. Try and tell that to a bean counter that runs the whole ball of wax now.

To be honest with you i really don't think many consultants and PD's today understand what it means or how to execute a team of "Personalities". I think the only thing that comes to their clueless minds is...Oh my, doesn't he have a big ego. Isn't he out of control. Or, hey we don't need those obnoxious dj's. No you don't, not the 25K kind :) HAHAHA

Can someone give me a valid reason why Sonny Melendrez is not on an adult radio station?

I'd rather listen to Adult Standards than KTFM, and now more than ever. They've done so much tweaking in the past five years. What's the next tweak, hip-hop and country???

I do like those new electronic billboards though.

*insert yet another complaint about no AOR in Houston*

Of course this was the early 80s but KTFM DID play Hip Hop (urban) and Country. I remember hearing Kenny Rogers-Mickey Gilley next to Shalamar and the fat back band on KTFM and they were #1 Teens, 18-34 and 25-54!!!

You must be talking about the first and original KTFM on 102.7.

I've only ever heard him on KAHL. I'm guessing there's a perception the audience he attracts now is mostly 55+ and no stations in the market targeting that audience (except NTers) have local talent. I assume Sonny doesn't do NT, so there probably isn't a good fit.

You got that right. IMO, the station sounds like it belongs somewhere up north. It doesn't sound nor feel like SA. But then again, that might be a plus......but very doubtful.
