Another "Not so Merry" Clear Channel Christmas?

For the dense I was being sarcastic.

I feel like I want to type something about Glass Houses.
Billy Joel could really write back then.
There...I feel better.

Joel Riley is out in the 9 to noon spot starting January 1, 2009. He will be voicetracking on WLZT. Dont know if he got a pay-cut or will be freelancing...Wonder if they are dropping Paul Harvey like WLW did????
Deep throat did'nt know...

I've never been a fan of Joel's on air work, but I've always heard he was a very hard worker and very loyal employee. (Although I heard when he was in leadership, he was a bear to work for.) I'm glad it appears they didn't totally yank the income out entirely from under him.

5:30a-9a: Bob Conners
9a-11:42a: Glenn Beck
11:42-noon: Paul Harvey
Noon-3p: Rush Limbaugh
3p-7p: John Corby
7p-10p: Sean Hannity
10P-Mid: Mark Levin

This is the same line up before Glenn was dropped for Joel Riley.

As for voicetracking on WLZT...that's news to me!

Joel had the early evening spot before he took the early midday spot from Beck. When Joel, moved, Hannity moved from late evenings (remember it was Hannity who booted Cannon) to early evenings and the station added Levin in the late evening spot.

As I've read on this forum, Levin carriage was a 1-2 punch from ABC to carry Hannity. Want Hannity, then you've got to take Levin. Don't know how true, but what's been voiced here.

Anyone know who will replace O'Reilly on YTS? Will they give Ramsey all three hours again?

This is unfortunate to read.

I've always respected Joel since listening to him on WQIO back in the 80's and I also really enjoy listening to Dirk, I don't often agree with him but I always enjoy his thoughts and the way he runs his show.

CC is like any other corporation, when the going gets tough, the tough fire someone.

this is really tragic. Joel was a really loyal long time employee for one thing. And i thought he did a fine job. (i couldn't stomach a lot of his callers but i have a low tolerance for idots which is the same reason i can't listen to conners on saturday mornings) Terrestrial radio is losing all it's local content, just like local television before it. If they really wanted Beck back they could have shuffled Joel back to evenings. Hannity is unlistenable to me, way too shrill for radio. But this wasn't about bringing Beck back this was about cutting expenses. Radios death has been predicted for decades. The predictions are right, it's just a long very slow death. glad i bailed out long ago

How is "cutting expenses" when Joel and his producer is remaining with the station?

As for WYTS...Lou Dobbs is replacing O'Reilly, Clark Howard is replacing Dave Ramsey, and Neal Boortz is replacing Michael Savage. Ramsey and Savage are moving to 103.9.

where is it written that they're keeping either of them? for that matter, where is it written that they're out? this is all attributed to "deep throat" in a previous post in this thread. and deep throat is reportedly dead at the age of 95 ::)

Anyone remember about 2 years go when WTVN decided to take Glenn Beck off and replace him with Riley? Beck blasted the station, people even came to the station in protest. Management even remarked about how great this change was going to be. How interesting. Oh wait, as one person has described this latest change. "thought provoking". Happy Holidays! ::)

Well, actually, we wrote it on OMW when we updated the item on the Beck-for-Riley schedule change:

http://ohiomedia.blogspot.com/2008/12/beck-back-to-old-columbus-home.html

OMW hears that displaced WTVN/610 midday host Joel Riley will be designated the "primary fill-in" for the station's two remaining local hosts, Bob Conners and John Corby...duty which should give him at least a few weeks of airtime over the course of a year, since both Conners and Corby have extensive vacation time.

We're told Riley will also continue with Corby and Joe Bradley in the Friday "Big Bass Brothers" segment on Corby's show, and that he could have other duties in the Clear Channel Columbus cluster.

We have no idea of the financial arrangements for Riley after this change, and haven't confirmed the other duties.

Our sources are good. :) And as far as I know, don't call themselves "Deep Throat" anywhere...

so where are you getting that information from? Doesn't make sense cutting someone in the middle of the pay period and when THEY HAVEN'T GOTTEN THEIR BUDGETS BACK FOR 2009 YET! Isn't the GM in Texas right now at their meetings?

Joel Voice Tracking now? That is sad. Don't forget, WTVN's Best Buckeye Coverage will start a three pm. Don't forget to tune in to listen to the game on WBNS FM/AM.

I find it funny that they would do countless hours of Buckeye football coverage and they don't have the rights to air the games.

Do all those exclamation points mean you're actually looking forward to this (assuming it happens)??

Also, are you referring specifically to Columbus, or general soon-to-come personnel cuts by CC Corporate?
