Another out at WFMS

Darren and Stu, I truly hate to hear that...you guys are great. I had the pleasure to work with you guys from 93-96. Darren, my fellow UK Wildcat fan, I wish you nothing but the best! Stu, best wishes to you as well. You all deserve better than that.

Jim, Deb, Kevin, Vicki, JD, watch your back.

The only way Hank will be the country leader is if they make a few changes too and actually play songs that were hits. Not just anything and everything under the sun! Only play the best of the best of the older stuff. They are doing ok now but imagine what they could be if they shrunk the playlist a little bit.
Exactly...104.5 The Bear had a 6 share trying to protect WFMS...Hank has a 3.5...Imagine what Hank could have had if the person who was driving The Bear was in charge. I like Hank's attitude, but the music does nothing for me. That old country wasn't cool when it was new...it's even less cool now. C'mon Hank...change your name to Trace & take WFMS up on their invitation to put them out of their misery.

Ho never listened to the show. This was the country version of Delilah. Not a cry in your beer hour. More uplifting than anything.

Then we're talking about two different shows. NO - I did not stay tuned for the crying in my beer stories and losers that have to call a radio sttaion to get advice on whether they should stay with the guy that tells them he thinks they're fat and he wants to move in with her sister! "wow, that's tough. I wonder what our listeners think about that. Do you have any advice for our caller?"

THAT'S what I heard on weekend late evenings. So no, I didn't listen much - I switch over to Hank ... which brings me to my second point ...

Does this allow Jeff to make Hank your country leader?

I think Hank is already a much better country choice. WFMS often plays a much older brand of country that would appeal to older listeners (over 65), but not the young, mids or older (40-65) that want 'hits.'

Go ahead and tell me I don't know what I'm talking about regarding the country music in town, but I listen, and listen regularly, and think Hank plays a larger variety of 'upbeat' country.

The ratings don't bear that out, Ho. 'FMS constantly performs better in younger demos than Hank. There are a lot more 30-somethings listening to 'FMS than Hank. Without Bob there certainly is a opportunity for Hank...or perhaps another player to go Country.

Comparing music logs side-by-side, Hank is a lot more contemporary (and more female-friendly) than they were at launch. They're still playing a lot of marginal gold songs research-wise. A little tightening of the playlist might allow them to be more competitive against WFMS.

I would like to know what happened to being respectful? Ho, you may not have appreciated or enjoyed the show; however, remember this is someone's job! God forbid your employment is not suddenly taken from you and you then worry and stress how you are going to make it day to day. Geez, what is this world coming to? :'(

I also worked for WFMS and remember the crew. I commend Bob for making the decision to not be the deliverer of bad news to Steve and Darrin. The Three Amigos - I wish you all the best in your future endeavors. You have done an OUTSTANDING job and I am confident your next ventures will be bigger and better (so watch out Ho if you hate accomplishments or just turn your radio off).

I am a 29 year old female and prefer WFMS over HANK any day! I believe this is also very true of my age group.

If we really want to compare successes, where are Hank's nominations for CMA Large Market or Personalities of the Year? I have searched many different engines and been unsuccessful. But, three WINS for WFMS for 2009. Something must be going right. :p

Some people may not have faith in individuals who choose to cross over different genres. If you don't appreciate the music, it is hard to sell it. Unfortunately if we continue to lose great on-air personalities, the awards may cease. However, this may be the kick in the rear that management needs to realize their huge mistakes which seem to accumulate.

So, Ho, you can choose to keep your dial on 97.1 FM; but don't steal our glory when we celebrate!

Darrin, stay in touch and keep your head held high. I am blessed to call you my friend! ;)
