You're right..just leave it alone!..Jimmy isn't programming his station maybe
as much as he used to, he's leaving it up to Cal Zethmayer, his engineer,
sales manager, and all around utility "can do everything" guy (who knows, he
might be the GM, Ops Manager or Program Director all in one). They do play
some good classic country, i.e., Jim Reeves, Buck Owens, Johnny Cash which
garners those upper demos (45+-65+)who don't care to hear Tim McGraw,
Carrie Underwood, Blake Shelton, Kenny Chesney, etc, the new core country
artists who get rotated on country formats much like the top 40 stations did
playing a tight playlist of 25 -30 tunes only rotating every 2-3 hours!!It' s the
same old problem..the consultants at the corporate stations have that same
mindset to "play a song into the ground" causing most listeners to "tune out"
as their research says their audience TSL is very short, 20-30 minute intervals.
Anyway, I like the bluegrass and you can play Merle or George and Tammy
Johnny and Waylon anytime..just backtime those near top of hour songs so
you don't clip the music off to go to CBS news!
