Any April Fool's Jokes that might happen?

Anyone hear of any zany things that may happen this year? A format change for a day or anything silly.
Although last years "95.5 Buddy-FM " is a tough one to beat.

Last years "Buddy-FM" was an awsome prank. It was harmeless, it didn't offend anyone, and to top it all off "LOTS" of people believed it! It's really to bad it was just a prank though. I was glued to my radio for 24 hours and I even left it on while I slept. If it was an actual format change I think they would have pulled in some great ratings!

Since it is only March 21st, I doubt anyone is going to spill the beans about an April Fool.. That really defeats the whole object of the excercise!

The BRU Buddy-FM may have been a zany prank, but it really pales in comparison with Capital Radio, London (95.8FM). One of their April Fool's pranks managed to get a third of London to work an hour early!

All the DJs came into work an hour early, so the morning show started at 430am, although the DJs were time checking 530am. All the regular bits, and Flying Eye traffic reporter were an hour earlier, and the jock who starts at 9am, was on air at 8. Even the news service, which is a simulcast of Independent Radio News, (a national service) adjusted the time check to fall in line with Capital - so the news at 7 was announced as the 8am!

Capital reaches about 20 million listerners - about 7 million arrived an hour early at the office!!

At midday - everything reverted to the correct time. Lore has it, afternoon if you play a prank - you become the fool!

Now thats a classic!

I actually remember back in 1998, WSNE pulled this April Fool joke where they said they were draining Narragansett Bay, and they pretended like they were on location, and you could hear the sounds of the pumps. Apparently, some schools heard this on the news, and so they actually took time out of school to go down to the bay and watch the draining!

With 4/1 being a Sunday this year maybe PRO-FM and HJY can both have live jocks on the air to boggle everyone's minds.

I urge all of you to listen to BRU from 3pm to 6pm on the 30th

I heard the tail end of your show today. Did you say you're putting naked pictures of yourself on your myspace site? This isn't part of the April Fools thing is it?

actually this week is brown spring break so PM drive is 2-6, and no I was actually talking about Pete Wentz

And since April 1st is on a Sunday, WBRU will play its usual alternative rock and say that 360 got cancelled.

i was going to mention the fake concert KKB put on 2 or 3 years back..but that was on a July 4th weekend...still that was funny stuff haha

Back in the classic rock days, 103.7 WRX put on a fake classic rock concert featuring Zeppelin, the Stones, the Who and others at the "Providence Collusium." They actually had jocks pretending they were there and would say things like "I can't believe Keith Richards is back in Rhode Island since his drug bust at Green airport back in '72!" People actually fell for it, too. And like the KKB thing, this one wasn't on April Fools Day.

Actually, it would cause mass havok in the community if we went to rock on 360 sundays, even as a joke. I kid you not, there would be riots at the ACI. Its one of our secret unspoken of rules.

WFHN is actually holding a contest that I think MIGHT be an April Fool joke. I'm not positive, but I think it could be one. If you listen for your cue to call, you'll win a PRIVATE brunch with singer JoJo at the Candleworks Restaurant in New Bedford. And the brunch does take place on April 1st.....

I have them on online right now, but apparently WBRU is pretending that it's 1997. The jock said that there's this new hot band called Bush, and that its singer Gavin Rossdale is hot. Looking at yes.com and it appears that many of the songs they're playing are from the 90s. Ironically, where the Retro Lunch would be (12:00 - 1:35), they played basically all new songs. I haven't been able to listen until now, but this is interesting. Definitely not as good as Buddy FM though...

That could be real. Jojo's fairly local. I don't think you can promote a contest that doesn't exist unless the prize is so out there that no one would believe it's real.

Next time it comes on, listen to Fun's "Terms and Conditions" that you agree to when you win a contest. All stations have them, and they all say that the station reserves the right to exchange the prize for one of lesser value without notice.

Well, it says that the contest started on the 26th (last Monday). Somehow, I think if it were real, it would have been going on for at least a month. And honestly, even if it is real, I sort of think April 1st was a bad day to pick, since it is a questionable day.

WBRU retro shows are new music and the rest of the dayparts are back to somewhat old school. I would say the April fool joke has already been started. ;)

They're playing music and introing songs as if it was 1995. At work, when I was listening, they introed Smashing Pumpkins "Tonight, Tonight" as of their new Album, Melancholy(sp?), which came out in 95.
