Any chance Cablevision would buy a LI radio station?

Fat chance -- another fanboy fantasy

Cablevision bought Newsday to keep it away from Rupert Murdoch and his neocon cronies.

The Dolan family will not be getting into radio any time soon because there's no money to be made in it. Also there's a not-so-trivial agency known as the FCC.

They bought it because they seem to think there is synergy between cable and print.

There is plenty of money in radio... Clear cash flowed over a billion dollars from radio last year, in just one example.

If Cablevision were to buy a radio station, I'd point to WALK-FM 97.5 as the obvious choice. It's the biggest FM signal on the Island...hell the biggest signal here, PERIOD. Unfortunately most of the AMs and other FMs only cover either Suffolk or Nassau (or parts of each).

The fact that WALK-FM is the EAS primary for LI should give an indication of how far it reaches.
